After 4 years at BASW, I start a new role as Deputy Director at Article 39 in June! As a teenager I spent time in unregulated care & mental health wards. To work for a charity which fights for the rights of children in these settings, who are so overlooked, means everything.

Oh how the tables turn! When I was 16, I came home to a letter on the kitchen table from my foster carer. It said I had four days to find somewhere else to live. Today, the book in which I write about this experience is pictured here on my own kitchen table. And it is OUT TODAY.

An Irish literary archive treat for #StPatricksDay Nobel laureate Seamus Heaney encounters an ancient and mysterious pagan statue on Boa Island in Lough Erne and imagines what the old gods in Ireland were like, before the arrival of St Patrick.

"I never did, & never will, meet an undeserving child. But today, the state has proved itself an undeserving parent" One last share in case you missed it. My thoughts on the #carereview in this week's @guardian. https://t.co/LRLEuaT1cP

For the @guardian, I wrote about the government's stingy response to the care review. Since when did 'love' become a euphemism for cheap? Children deserve so much better than this paltry offering. https://t.co/LRLEuaStnh
