Have a smart meter with @OctopusEnergy but not been billed for over 6mths! Submitting a manual reading doesn't trigger a bill either. Smart meter should mean automatic monthly bill, but even if I email and ask for a bill I don't get one. Not very smart! @g__j

The Electrification of Heat Demonstration Project final summary reports and datasets are now available! They reveal how heat pumps are a viable low-carbon heating solution for all housing types, examine the barriers to installation, and detail the performance of the heat pumps.

A new deep dive article over on @energystatsuk by myself & @FinchampsteadPH about how two bugs (Energy Integral & Compr.start heat.from) in firmware version 351.06.07 on Pre April 2023 Vaillant Arotherm Plus heat pumps can cause extra cycling and reduced efficiency. One for the

Only issue is it assumes: - Same usage patterns this time last year - Usage patterns won't change it you change tarrif. But, gives you good idea..

Got fair amount of PV and an EV and wondering if/when it will make sense to switch to Ocotpus Flux tariff for the summer? This tool is fantastic!

The missing tool to help you tariff hopping between various Octopus smart tariffs (in particular Flux) during the year!

No chance of being anywhere near #topofthescops with PH though: i) DHW is a much higher proportion of usage than with any other house ii) Compressor is on a lot less, so the idle energy usage (especially with active/inactive room mod) adds up and impacts overall SCOP.

Finally hooked up MMSP Pasivliving hub with @Openenergymon in order to use the brilliant heat-pump monitoring app and join the https://t.co/BmygFWs46P club. Not really cold enough for heating to really kick-in though, so not much to see yet.

Amazing to think that in just 334 days from today, the Scottish Parliament will have 'fast-tracked' legislation to bring in @PassivhausTrust standard across Scotland! this will be world leading - brilliant. @patrickharvie @AlexRowleyFife @MairiMcAllan - clock is ticking......

.@MixergyLtd Seen these top-down smart heat-pump UVC's with COP of 5? Seems CO2 with it's much higher delta-t is a game-changer for DHW applications. Have to heat whole tank with Mixergy and still the COP is not great (unless empty and heating to only 45C) https://t.co/WfRgLKq2dE

Producing green hydrogen in the Uk will use 6x more electricity than heat pumps. If they mean blue hydrogen, it’s made from gas and costs loads more than gas. Actual science. Btw- 97% of the worlds hydrogen is currently grey - trashing the climate. Maybe they should sort that

In the future, switching to hydrogen will help protect us from the unpredictable & sometimes fluctuating costs associated with energy bills. If produced in the UK it will also mean that we’ll have access to a reliable source of energy without relying on supply from abroad.

Anyone used PHPP data to suggest a required heat curve for UFH? My assumption is it is a (manufactuer specific) function of i) PHPP heating load, and ii) UFH spacing. #Passivhaus

How can @vaillantuk aroTHEM Plus "spec sheet" and manual differ so much in values for "heat(ing) output"? What am I missing? It doesn't help that the former doesn't even have units! @JohnCantor2

Great video from Pete Armstrong, CEO of @MixergyLtd "Do Air Source Heat Pumps Work In Winter" Shows real world ASHP test when it was snowing and -1 outside. https://t.co/F06XDjaUY1 I'm certainly leaning towards Mixergy tank if I could squeeze one in the house. @energystatsuk

ASHP turned up ready to install! This one is the @vaillantuk aroTHERM plus 7kW (twice what's will be needed to heat house on the coldest day off the year). These are fairly new units which use propane refrigerant for very low GWP (global warming potential).

Also will be using a @MixergyLtd smart hot-water tank that supports "partial charging" and has a great app. @FullyChargedShw has a great explainer:

Decided to use @vaillantuk aroTherm Plus 7kW. i) R290 refrigerant has very low global warming potential ii) great SCOP ii) quiet iii) 7-year warranty (and as a bonus can do 75C if needed).

Best day since @SolarEdgePV 3-phase inverter was installed a couple of months ago by @SpiritEnergy_UK. (low consumption as build is still ongoing)

Designed DHW distribution with @UponorUK 12/16mm MLP to minimize losses and avoid hot return. Limited info on best max velocity in MLP avail though. Designed for <2m/s but a 15l/min kitchen tap would push this up to 2.5m/s. @UponorUK do mention 8ft/s for hot somewhere...
