How well can heat pumps work when designed, installed and commissioned well? This is one of the main questions we are exploring with we now have 36 systems with H4 monitoring boundary with 1 year of data, average SCOP/SPF is 3.9 🥳🧵

For this reason our Level 3 Monitoring Bunde uses independence MID billing grade heat and electric meters to monitor total electric input and accurate heat output with DT temperature sensors inside the primary pipes and including energy lost to defrost

These errors can be significant resulting in more than whole COP figure discrepancys, plus or minus, even the same make and model of heatpump can have discrepancys due to manufacturing tolerances e.g SCOP 6.1 vs 4.88

Examples of onboard monitoring inaccuracies include:.- not including defrost energy.- not including circulation pump(s).- not including booster heater and immersion.- temperature sensing errors resulting in inaccurate DT measurement.

For this reason we don't by default display onboard monitoring data on it has to be enabled under the 'Other Metering' checkbox.

Integrating onboard monitoring data as shown in this video is very useful to see how a heatpump is running, however onboard monitoring can have significant inaccuracies, the COP should be taken with a pinch of salt, this is acknowledged by manufacturers
