Non-partisan grassroots org fighting to make NYC's elections more democratic through the adoption of Final Five Voting (#OpenPrimaries + #RankedChoiceVoting)
NYC
Joined July 2022
What is Final Five Voting? It's a combination of two powerful election reforms: 1) A single open primary in which all voters participate regardless of their political party registration. 2) A Ranked Choice Voting general election among the top five top winners of the primary.

No voter should be denied a say in the primary elections. Fight for #OpenPrimaries in NYC. Give our friends a follow! 👇
New Yorkers should not have to register with a party just to participate in the most consequential elections of the year. Unfortunately, if you're an Independent voter & you want to vote in the Primary, you'll have to change your registration before 2/14.

@BOENYC @NyWhitaker I would love to vote in this primary. Unfortunately independents are disenfranchised by the self serving 2 party system that is NOT a part of the US constitution. @FinalFiveNYC

This mailer arrived in my mailbox from NY’s Board of Elections on the same day that Joe Biden clinched the Dem nomination and there are no Republican challengers to the leading candidate. It begs the question: what is the cost to taxpayers and what is actual turnout to

This was a good read. I'm a registered NYC voter for over 25 years. Past 10 as "unaffiliated". I am totally disenfranchised from the nomination process that I pay for. Then, I am offered 0 choice on most races voters, which I also pay for +8:1 matching donation.

"Like the sequel to a bad movie that no one wants to see, Americans are bracing themselves for a re-run of the 2020 presidential election." Thank you @NY1 for covering @SalAlbaneseNYC's op-ed in the @NYDailyNews!

Goodbye 2023 election cycle ✌️ Hello 2024! 👋 While POTUS is of course important, that’s NOT my focus. For me, 2024 means TWO things: 1) #FinalFiveVoting ballot question for NYC. 2) #FinalFiveVoting ballot question for Nevada. Please join me on this journey 🙏

@OrganizerMemes Yall the answer is slowly get electoral reform state by state. We can do this in 25 states simply by ballot measure. Nevada Question 3 is a HUGE national race to get behind this November if we want to effect change. We have a Final Five ballot question in NYC as well.

.@harrysiegel in his thoughtful column on problems @NYCMayor is facing also makes a compelling argument on how broken our electoral rules are & need for nonpartisan elections so vast # of voters who aren’t ideologues can participate. We are working on this. @FinalFiveNYC

6 states are rethinking how they run their primaries in 2024. Some real reform is beginning to take hold across the country, we plan to give it a push with our effort in NYC! @FinalFiveNYC

Most of the states considering changing their primary election systems are looking at ways to open the process to more voters.

We’re so grateful to have to the Staten Island Democratic Association on the Final Five Team!
I want to thank the Staten Island Democratic Association for endorsing @FinalFiveNYC! We have bipartisan support for our effort to help fix our broken political system. Unaffiliated voters are second largest voting demographic in NYS & NYC, let’s open up our democracy

NEWS from @CommonCause: “There are over 3.1 million registered voters in NY who are politically unaffiliated voters…24% of the electorate & roughly a third live in NYC.” Rising numbers of Independents is leading to more calls for nonpartisan elections. https://t.co/gM6Ckn72Ki
