Why?? Why do “incentives” matter? Things we’d like our elected representatives to do: - fair redistricting - secure elections - require transparency - put #CountryOverParty - pass reforms that put voters first Other examples of #ChangingTheIncentives and why incentives matter?
“We have to be sure our elected representatives have the right incentives. Today, how we finance elections and HOW we elect our representatives with partisan primaries provide the WRONG incentives. We can change both.” #ChangeTheIncentives

West Virginians should be able to vote in every publicly-funded election. #YourVoteMatters Thanks @Sen_JoeManchin
I’d like to remind my Republican friends and leaders in West Virginia that will be deciding this weekend whether or not they keep the Republican primary closed: this is a move that would shut out thousands of West Virginia voters. Closed primaries serve parties, not people. If we

Too much democracy philanthropy is optimized for pushing policy—and not enough is optimized for whether government can actually deliver it. Daniel Stid argues for the need to invest in building leadership capacity at the state level where government has the biggest impact on

#RankedChoiceVoting rewards candidates who campaign positively for support from all voters. In primaries from NYC to VA, RCV has helped both major parties pick strong nominees w/ broad support. It can do the same in the 2028 presidential primaries.

Last election, 5 states that abolished party primaries for state or federal offices had 3.5x the rate of competitive general elections for state house & 2x for US House. Maybe instead of having "party" primaries, we replace them with "voter" primaries?? #EveryonesVoteShouldMatter

Today’s question… This week the administration closed the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, which was created in 1977 “to help advance individual liberty and democratic freedoms around the world”… Why?

“Why??” I am all for government efficiency and being fiscally responsible. I also believe in accountability and having to take responsibility for your actions and decisions. This incl being able to answer the simple question “Why?” I plan on asking this question more.

Thanks @AndrewYang! Did RCV add to the confusion? Maybe for those trying to predict the outcome or trying to game the process, but not for the majority of voters. Everyone should vote for whoever they wish in every race! Everyone’s vote should matter! #MakeAllVotesMeaningful
.@AndrewYang makes a clear case in @Newsweek: New York City’s mayoral race shows us a better way to run elections. But there’s still room for improvement. "Americans want more choices and new voices. They want winners chosen by majorities, who are accountable to all of us," Yang

Is a 3rd Party the solution? Not by itself! Reforms change & improve HOW we elect our reps! They may not change who wins, but they are proving to change who runs, the way they campaign and more importantly how they govern once elected. Changing the system changes the incentives!
Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?
