To substantiate our findings, we collaborated with @PhosphorusFive @CEStieger and @daniel_roderer @FelixSchoepf to obtain mass spectrometry spectra and the first-ever Cryo-EM structure of pyro-and oligo- phosphorylated proteins.

Our research revealed that the metastasis suppressor protein NME1, previously identified as pyrophosphorylated by Morgan et al. 2024, contains an oligophosphorylated amino acid residue in mammalian cell lines.

During our investigation of protein pyrophosphorylation, we identified a novel post-translational modification (PTM), which we have termed 'Protein Oligophosphorylation'. https://t.co/dFOJilk9kh

Follow up to our discovery of endogenous protein pyrophosphorylation, Arif Celik, a PhD student from our lab, decided to select one of the newly found „pyrophosohoproteins“ and see what effect does this PTM have on protein activity. https://t.co/Z5bDJl5h4d

While the function of protein phosphorylation in eukaryotic cell signaling is well established, the role of a closely related modification, protein pyrophosphorylation, is just starting to surface. A...

Unexpected results often lead to fascinating discoveries! Have a look at this new paper from our lab where @timaguirre_chem developed an inhibitor for IP6Ks and found out some really cool mechanistic details about the inhibition https://t.co/DnOwacNXMI
