I think of my Mother's Grandmother Rachel Grossman z"l who with over 1.1million others was murdered in Auschwitz. Amongst 6million Jews killed in three Holocaust were many of my own family including the Uncle after who I'm named. It's not history for us, it's memory

I often worry I'm being patronising or paternalistic when I tell female friends "text me when you get back home". It's a habit since my late teens (I'm almost 50). By default I'm no worrier but I'm a realist + the sickening statistics don't lie
