The outcry that these two films are the same is honestly embarrassing and highlights a lack of critical thinking. It feels like a certain group of Latinos who only accept one type of representation trying to center themselves in a movie that doesn’t include them.

I absolutely love Selma in this film…her characters and the other Mexican vampires were objectified and portrayed as violent demons vs Sinners where the the vampires genuinely wanted FREEDOM from a world where they were colonized and systematically oppressed.

Smoke and Stake were part of a community and yes they were criminals but even the complexity of them deciding commit crime vs Seth and Richard who were just interesting degenerates.

The only similarities between the two films is the fact that it’s set in a club with one night full of terror. But the vampires and their intentions, the exploration of sexuality and the inclusion of music is completely different.

Mi gente. From Dusk Till Dawn was written by a white man and doesn’t do an 8th of what #Sinners did for representation. Let’s put the cape down. A Thread…
