Secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation. With our partners, we build and maintain Florida's transportation infrastructure.

Joined December 2012
During Hurricane Milton, over 150 Bridge Inspectors conducted nearly 2,000 inspections in less than 12 hours, getting first responders and residents access to impacted areas.
FDOT’s bridge inspectors don’t have a typical office view– especially after severe weather. After a storm, bridges must be inspected to ensure they are safe for travel. Immediately following a storm, our inspectors begin canvassing and clearing bridges, and they continue

This photo was taken 4 years after the Pensacola Port Authority was established. Fast forward to now, it’s 1 of 11 ports in Florida with direct rail connections to streamline cargo activities and strengthen Florida’s supply chain.
Having a transportation system that supports multiple modes and our supply chain is something that Florida has always prioritized. As seen by this cargo ship and steam locomotive docked in Pensacola in 1947, easy connection between modes was just as critical back then as it is

During his previous time in @GovRonDeSantis’ administration, Alex was a great partner for FDOT, especially during emergencies as we responded to multiple storms. Welcome back to the Free State of Florida, Alex!.
It’s been an honor to serve under the leadership of Governor Patrick Morrisey — a man of integrity and conviction who cares deeply about his staff and the future of West Virginia. Great things lie ahead for the Mountain State!. While I am sad to leave, I look forward to this.

The Shands Bridge is the 3rd and final segment of the First Coast Expressway and will add an additional 20 feet of clearance from the waterline to accommodate larger marine vessels.
Crews delivered the first 60-inch concrete piles to be used in construction of the new Shands Bridge as part of the First Coast Expressway. Exciting time on the St. Johns River as the new bridge takes form! . @MyFDOT_NEFL

Last August, while responding to Hurricane Debby, FDOT deployed over 1,200 generators to various locations across the impact zone. Pre-staging resources allowed us to quickly get traffic signals operational and keep the roadway safe for 1st responders and residents returning.
Severe weather can bring the unexpected, making preparation the key to success. To prepare for any power outages that may occur, FDOT stages fully fueled generators that can be deployed after a storm to help keep traffic signals operational under temporary power. While these

Thank you, @SecDuffy and Deputy Secretary Bradbury, for yesterday’s incredibly productive roundtable with fellow State DOTs. It is reassuring to know that our shared goals of enhancing transportation safety and accelerating infrastructure delivery will be key priorities in the.
U.S. Department of Transportation Deputy Secretary Steven Bradbury and Senior Advisor Sean McMaster hosted a first-of-its-kind event on Thursday, bringing together State DOT CEOs to discuss @USDOT’s policy priorities for the next surface transportation reauthorization.

Signal restoration is vital to maintaining safety after a storm. After Hurricanes Helene and Milton last year, our FDOT crews assessed over 14,000 traffic signals collectively statewide for outages.
Hurricanes can knock out power to traffic signals, which are important in helping people navigate roadways safely post-storm. After each storm, FDOT does a thorough survey of impacted areas to determine which signals need to be restored. This can include deploying generators as a

Today marks the start of Operation Southern Slow Down. We are united with our law enforcement partners, both statewide and across the Southeast, to reduce speeding. With nearly 13% of all traffic fatalities attributed to speeding in Florida, we all have a part to play in getting.
FDOT is proud to partner with law enforcement agencies across the Southeast for Operation Southern Slow Down, an annual law enforcement campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of speeding and increase roadway safety. Higher speeds increase the risk of crashes, make
