#NorthSomerset MP @SadikAlHassanMP is urgently meeting with @BristolAIrport over their plans to grab #FeltonCommon land Hopefully he will side with the people he represents NOT the airport @BristolAIrport don't HAVE to do this - they just want to make more money
I have requested an urgent meeting with Bristol Airport to understand their plans for the expansion of runway lights into Felton Common and to represent #NorthSomerset constituent views.

Major win for consumers, as airlines are forced to stop misleading claims. Airlines now have to avoid insinuating consumers can 'neutralise' a flight's emissions through offsets and clarify when using terms such as ‘Sustainable Aviation Fuel’. 1/2 https://t.co/y6TQUKP5d5

Here is @baancc visual of what the approach landing lights on Felton Common will look like if @BristolAIrport are allowed to cexpand to 15mppa & build a runway extension Excessive light pollution, more noise and more particulates Put your comments here https://t.co/3Rz272ZY1I

.@CarbonBubble's new report finds that alternative fuels will not be able to scale fast enough to even cover the increase in COâ‚‚ from demand growth. Until unsustainable aviation growth is tackled, any effort to reduce emissions is wiped out. https://t.co/5n0ERGB4Va

The Government should NOT be supporting #airportexpansion Airport expansion doesn't boost economic growth More flights = more emissions More flights = harm to wildlife & local communities Only a few benefit but we all pay the price #NoAirportExpansion

Great article from @TristanCorkPost describing the 'fury' against @BristolAirport for planning to land-grab part of #FeltonCommon
@BristolAirport are corporate bullies - assuming they can just take what they want They've made the mistake - why should local people suffer?
Bristol Airport confirms it will need to move its approach landing lights onto the nature reserve that is Felton Common, if it is allowed to make the runway longer. This wasn't mentioned in the 'Master Plan' for expansion & now @baancc is furious More👇 https://t.co/As6dPXKxvm

A longer runway would mean landing lights on the ancient Felton Common

Incredible oversight revealed by @BristolAirport. It's plans to expand the runway to allow airlines to fly to further destinations will need landing lights on Felton Common. BBC News - Bristol Airport reveals plans to expand onto Felton Common - BBC News https://t.co/m3S8n4Zovk

Plans for landing lights for long-haul flights could mean the loss of some common land nearby.

Disappointingly little media attention being paid to this alarming new study. Instead, we're hearing about Bill Gates "tough truths" [read b.s.] downplaying the climate crisis. We are living in #DontLookUp

@EyesOnBAL @BristolAirport Growth won't justify climate damage in airport plans, say MPs https://t.co/pDE5LZJ6jN

Is expanding airports good for the economy? @BristolAirport own figures show that less than 10% of passengers are non-UK SO... Over 90% of flights are taking money OUT of our economy and spending it abroad NOT good

The Gov’s claim that airport expansion will lead to economic growth is wrong, argues Alex Chapman from @NEF: "demand for business air travel is collapsing and we're flying ever more tourists to spend money outside the country than we are flying in." 1/4 https://t.co/JGbP5hu2T6

A committee of MPs says the government has not demonstrated if economic benefits from airport expansion outweigh climate impacts.

Yes climate breakdown means more turbulence for flyers. It’s also on track to heat the planet by 4C+ this century, kill billions of people & collapse our civilization. Keep on seeing the deadliest crisis our species has ever faced framed as some minor consumerist inconvenience.

Scheduled #NightFlights are ALWAYS low compared with Actual #NightFlights
#Emergency #Dispensations are continually used to fill the gap @BristolAirport needs realistic scheduling NOT using dispensations to fill the gap https://t.co/0nkCApFhpQ

@EyesOnBAL @BristolAirport @baancc It's blatantly clear that this Govt panicked into pushing for airport expansion in the hope it would be seen to be driving economic growth yet has not thought through the consequences or considered the implications on rising emissions & the lives of the surrounding communities
