Congratulations to Anthony Gardner whose wildly funny, elegantly-written, perfectly-peopled caper about how the love of animals can have unexpected consequences is out this week from @EyeAndLightning. The most cheering novel of the year.

Religious zealots, art fraudsters, Russian spies and animals at the communion rail. @AnthonyGardnerA’s madcap satirical caper All God’s Creatures, poking subtle fun at the real world in crazy times, is out this week. @AmandaPCraig says it’s ‘pure delight’

It’s great to see @cmkosemen’s All Tomorrows in the @newscientist’s round-up of the best new science fiction books. (All Tomorrows isn’t really new – it was first published in 2006 and has had a massive following ever since, but this is the first print edition.)

‘In the early 1980s, a household of lesbian feminists establish a women-only commune in an ancient Californian redwood forest. Of course there is conflict, but there’s also warmth and a sincere desire to overcome the patriarchy.’ @gaiamediaorg on @LindaRosewood’s A Circle Outside

Loved this book and delighted to see it's been shortlisted for the 2025 East Anglian Book Awards. Well deserved, @jimcockinauthor.
Ghost Tide by @jimcockinauthor is a superbly atmospheric and creepy ghost story set on the Suffolk coast. The tension builds relentlessly throughout the book. Perfect for the Year 6 bookshelf. Highly recommended for fans of Aveline Jones and similar. @EyeAndLightning

Some books are brilliant (this is one such book) and some are taken to even higher heights when they are read at just the right time. ‘Ghost Tide’ by @jimcockinauthor has a Woman In Black MG feel, perfect for this time of year. #MGFictionAddiction
