* = age often does end up correlating with more important ideological or behavioral factors which favor a primary challenge, but it’s not always all about age. Also I say outside of a few cases bc safe seat vs swing seat primaries require different levels of caution.

Although age isn’t the most important factor* in primary challenges, outside of a few cases here this is basically a who’s who of primary-able targets for anyone considering running for office next year.
More than a dozen House Dems 70 and older are already facing primary challengers — and there will be more where that came from. Many will be "launching their campaigns throughout the summer and through the end of the year," @davidhogg111 tells @Axios .

Also reminder that Zohran won this seat (albeit by 136 votes) even while getting absolutely hammered in the UES, so a head to head race here isn’t an automatic lock for an establishment type in nadlers absence anyway.

So he’s opting for a messy primary with @GregCasar, that’s fine I’m sureee the electorate will choose the 80 year old hypocrite over the young exciting progressive leader.
NEW -- LLOYD DOGGETT says to @mkraju that his district is 2/3 the same and says he will run again. "I have already filed for re-election," Doggett says. He refuses to directly respond to whether he will run if Casar is in the race.

At the very least something like the wyoming rule (using the smallest state/district as a control for the rest) would be more representative than what we have now where we range from MT w/ 542k per district and DE having a single district w/ over a million people.

Next we need dem electeds to combat the unrepresentative capping of the house that resulted in CA losing districts at 760k ppl per district while states like MT gained districts with only 542k per district. 23 states have less population per district than CA (126 total seats).
dems should engage in a two step dance here: regularly and repeatedly introduce federal regulation to ban gerrymandering while doing it in states we control. next trifecta, we’ve gotta ban it federally but until then we can’t afford to forfeit.
