maine arguably has the worst senate delegation of any reliably dem state, you have a moderate indie w/ an annoying rightwing streak on certain issues, and a republican w/ an awful case of 'main character syndrome'
BREAKING:
@Marc4Nashua
just won his election to New Hampshire’s HD-Hillsborough 3!
In the legislature, Marc will work to protect the state’s natural beauty and keep abortion legal and accessible. His win also brings Dems one step closer to a majority in the state House!
the DCCC should break the country into different regions rather than having a singular chairperson from one region; a westerner probably would've caught just how in play much of the west was and invested accordingly
From
@Wirepoints
. Illinois pays its legislators grossly more than all neighboring States. It’s not a full time job. Almost all of them are partners in law firms and/or hold other jobs.
They dont care abt actual facts but: remove Seattle and Olympia the rest of the state is Biden+12(420k margin), remove all of King+Thurston Counties Biden+4(115k), and throw in 9 other biden counties and WA is still blue
NEW:
@Axios
w/ a first look at RNC’s video response to Biden
It is also the committee’s first video that is 100% generated by AI software meant to create images that look and feel real (in this case an imagined dystopia look at the future of Biden wins)…
Something abt
@MGPforCongress
that I think people are misconstruing is that she’s not particularly moderate, or even aesthetically moderate, she’s just a normal person. She comes across like a REAL person and not an ideologue, so she attracts voters across the spectrum
🚨Vermont’s “Housing Opportunities Made for Everyone” (HOME) bill legalizes duplexes, by-right, wherever year-round residential development is allowed and tri- & four-plexes if the area is served by water & sewer. 🏠
ppl are dunking on him(not entirely unjustified), but we really should talk abt the fact that we expect candidates to climb the ladder of some magic combination of 298734 other positions worth of experience but also dont want unrepresentative old rich people
Another Democrat says he is running for Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District held by Republican Derrick Van Orden.
This time, a 25-year-old law student from the Milwaukee area…
NEWS: Aide slips
@WhipKClark
a note. She announces entire 213-member House Democratic Caucus now supports the discharge petition to lift debt ceiling with no strings attached.
They need five GOP votes
Colorado Springs-centric
#CO05
is definitely a sleeper flip in the next few cycles, with its ~14 point swing left and Dems now carrying Colorado Springs
⏰⏰⏰
JARED POLIS IS LIKELY THE FIRST DEMOCRAT TO CARRY THE CITY OF COLORADO SPRINGS:
ESTIMATED TOTALS WITHIN COS PRECINCTS:
POLIS (D): 94,491 (50.6%)
GANAHL (R): 87,774 (47.0%)
Was 50-46 Trump in 2020
#copolitics
geography in Trump+19 Nebraska is pretty great for dems; under the current leg map dems hold 17 seats(25 total needed for a majority). If trends continue they could stand to flip the chamber later in the decade
The 2024 house elections are about to be so fun; ONLY considering todays court ruling, NC+NY+WI redrawing, and the recent CA poll, things are looking...good to say the least
It seems like the Utah Supreme Court is leaning towards the plaintiffs. If that happens, current 4-0 R gerrymander would become a 3-1 R map. +1 for House Democrats
Whether you support Williamson or not, this is shameful ridicule of someone’s spiritual beliefs, this wouldn’t be acceptable towards a Christian, Jew, Muslim, etc, so why is it acceptable for a non-mainstream spiritual belief?
White House Press Sec. Karine Jean-Pierre, when asked if President Biden is annoyed by Marianne Williamson (D) announcing her 2024 presidential bid:
“Just not tracking that. I mean, if I had a ... crystal ball, then I can tell you ... If I can feel her aura …”
ive said it once and i'll say it again: portland, maine, w/ their rapid development of condos/multi-family apartment buildings/etc, and the state of maine's efforts to draw in high paying jobs, are really setting it up to be the perfect place for young people to flock to
It’s only a 5 seat difference but 1.) this shows that progressives aren’t some measly faction made up of only the Squad and Pramila Jayapal, and 2.) the CPC was the only dem caucus to gain members in the ‘22 elections, New Dems remained the same, and Blue Dogs lost 10
love that we live in an era where democratic primaries are essentially normie progressives vs the full might of the pro-israel lobby, and we're just supposed to act like this is normal
@abow22
Potential hot take: but public transportation should have a major nationalized overhaul to greatly reduce the number of personal use cars, and easier access/better funding for public transportation(such as buses, trains, things of that sort)
presidential turnout in Omaha should be enough to overcome bacon's 5.8k mov, but this seat has continued to spite me for the last three cycles so i have no faith
