✨I have bipolar 2 disorder and I am a Christian. This is not shameful. It is not sinful. It happens to be how God created me. I take 4 medications every single day and this keeps me stable. I have an additional 2 medications for emergencies. I will probably be on medication

I am a Christian, and I have two daughters. Both my daughters attend public school. When my daughters were old enough to go to school I felt so much pressure from the Christian culture to homeschool them. I went to public school and had a really good experience, but everyone

A lot of "mental health issues" disappear when bills are paid, rent is secure, and the fridge is full. Peace is expensive. And pretending money doesn't affect mental health is privilege.

They’re calling Dune Part Three the epic conclusion because they don’t have the courage to film part four where a giant man-worm smashes Momoa clones for 3500 years

Robert Pattison in Dune Part 3 really wants us to forget he was ever a sparkly vampire. I will never forget.

Look! Another book I can read and disagree with! What ye say saints? Should I take up the Offensive Christian torch and offend the author with my opinion? Red flags in the five minutes I have spent learning about the author: 1. Has a sermon series called "dominion" 2. Michael
Young men are returning to church. But what kind of Christianity will they find? For too long, they've been offered a feminized faith that prizes niceness above all else, as if the chief end of man is to be nice. My new book Offensive Christianity tears down this lie. 1/4

Say a prayer for my bookstore. Q1 has crushed me. I’m behind several thousand dollars this month and I’m feeling discouraged that it won’t turn around.

“Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,” Col 3:12 I find it discouraging that men are shamed for qualities Christ admires in us. Alex defines effeminate as weak or passive. Meekness is about

@schmoyer_rachel “Effeminate” does not mean “feminine.” It specifically refers to when a man is behaving in a way that is weak or passive in contradiction to his masculine nature. The broader point is that to “share” and “invite” has its place but isn’t the same as proclaiming and heralding.

Motherhood is joyous, beautiful, and full of love. It’s also draining, lonely, and hard. You’re not a bad mom because you feel the tension.

No one can convince me there is anything better than baby snuggles. Not even my baby.

I never had a problem making friends. I was popular in high school, well liked, and well connected. I got married at 19 and had a baby right away. I was very isolated and couldn’t find anyone who could relate to me. My friend group shrunk down to my husband, and I was so lonely.

One of the most important things I've learned theologically in the last few years: The importance of categories and distinctions. Flattening everything makes for a lot of confusions.

My 8 year old and I went on a date together. We decided to paint pottery. I made her dad a giant salad bowl with blueberries. She made her dad a hot plate for pots! She rated this experience a 100/10. Will be back.

I’m seeing other posts related to this one and what’s confusing to me is why we are calling a child “unwed.” Of course she’s unwed, she’s a child. All that to say, pregnant teens have an isolating life. We should make every effort to show them love.
Seeing some convo on here about whether or not to attend a baby shower for an unwed, pregnant teen and I’ll just say this: My mom declined to attend one such baby shower. The couple married shortly after, and have stayed married. I have never forgotten my mom’s refusal.

For those of you who are single - how important is it to you to have someone who shares your faith and/or politics?

My friend calls me her “mother’s helper.” Every mom deserves a mother’s helper. Someone who comes and holds your baby while you shower, eat, do chores. In her case, she’s working from home. The benefit is that she doesn’t have to take her baby to day care and she always knows

Have the absolute privilege of watching my good friend’s brand new baby before I go to the bookstore to work. I get to watch her grow and love on her! Such a treat!
