I find it interesting that we are teaching our players in this “developmental phase” not to make mistakes, never to lose the ball, not to foul, not to take chances. Then in a real game the match calls for something special and they just can’t do something they’ve never tried-

A year ago I had a long conversation with a prominent US “scout” -halfway through I had to stop him and ask if we were still talking about the same sport. He was looking for athleticism and I was looking for a specific skill set with a soccer mind. Nothing changed in a year btw
