This guy caught heat for paying off a 2.6% mortgage but… 1) People massively underestimate the psychological and second-order benefits that come with being debt free. 2) The type of person who can pay off their home doesn’t need anyone’s advice—they’re going to be just fine.

Unpopular opinion: the assumption that AGI can be made with LLMs is (could be) FALSE. Do the best thinkers you know verbalise every thought? Or do they sit in silence while pondering the problem? I mostly think in numbers, models and graphs. Not language.

The meaning of life is: ‣ to call your mom ‣ to kiss your kids goodnight ‣ to work on something you care about ‣ to be nice to the old ladies on your block ‣ to go to the local high school's plays & football games
What happens when super computer tells us the meaning of life and the universe and all… and it wasn’t 42… It was to love ur family with all ur heart… what happens then?

Do you feel 2 people should be taxed the same if they both make $150k/yr but one does it in 35 hrs/wk while risking zero capital but the other takes 80 hrs/wk and risks 5 years of savings? Yeah, taxing them differently would be difficult to adm, but it doesn't feel right.
The rise of side hustles is a response to living costs as people look for ways to get ahead – this should be encouraged and rewarded. A visionary government would make side hustles tax free – it’d cost them nothing in income tax and boost economic activity without having to

To be fair to him, how could Benioff have anticipated that taxing all the businesses and giving the $$ to vagrants would result in many fewer businesses and many more vagrants?

Anyone else find it faster and easier to ask Grok a question than it is to Google it? 2nd point: If we all end up asking AI instead of Google, how bad will the AD revenue fall impact Google?

Perhaps we aren't in a bubble after all. It seems likely that the AUD has been devalued more than we have been told. What do you think the AUD is worth compared to 5 years ago? Half?

The bigger the tax, the bigger the incentive is to dodge the tax. "Show me the incentives and I'll show you the outcome" - Charlie Munger
I'm always careful about criticising experts who probably have more information and expertise to hand, but this is crazy to me. Increased taxes have made this possible. Not reducing them, now, seems crazy.

If UberEats and wanted to increase margin, then the smart $ is to blame the increase on the Gov.

My biggest fear of taxing unrealised capital gains is that it will cashflow bankrupt young entrepreneurs before they manage to stabilise. (Took me 8 years) The odds are already in the favour of old money. No good can come from making it worse.

Tobacco tax is a good analogy for the rest of Aus taxes: -> Tax Aussie's too much and we will go around it. Income tax plus the other hidden employment taxes is at 52%...for some...15% to 25% for those who study the rules and play the game. Do we hate the players or the game?
Aussie cigarette sales down 22% in a year, on latest official figures! Thank you public health experts! You were stellar in Covid, and you've proved your wisdom once again. Let's ratchet that tobacco excise to $100 a stick and end smoking once and for all! 🤓😂

Rents are soaring. Homelessness is rising. People are blaming everything except the real culprit, the government. Here’s how they created the rental crisis and how we fix it 🧵
