Well, the tears weren't far away after that success. After a year short of 40 years covering Glam, that was a terrific win.- Contributions from everyone, and how fitting the last wicket fell to Hogan - what a loyal and talented cricketer.

I can safely say that win @leicester today was the best I have witnessed during 40 years of covering @GlamCricket. An astonishing innings from Sam Northeast- well supported by Colin Ingram and @Cooky_24, followed by @Hoges31 and Michael Neser's outstanding seam bowling.

If the two days are rained off at Trent Bridge, @RDBCroft10 suggests that the two teams play the game at the start of next season as a curtain raiser. Sounds an excellent idea. Both he and Somerset's Jason Kerr agree the 50 over game must remain. Agreed.

In years gone by, batsmen had to learn the way to play on turning pitches against some great spinners and August was the month they flourished, But the ECB have done away with that- so little wonder England are clueless against the twirlers these days.

Wonderful news that Glamorgan legend Alan Jones has now been awarded his England cap after the ICC deemed his appearance against The Rest of the World in 1970 was not worthy of international recognition. Great player- over 41,000 first class and one day runs- and a great man.
