As always, the great @Kasparov63 seeing several moves ahead.
One must wonder what kind of nominations they have in mind if they are so worried about their nominations even in a Republican-controlled chamber.

But, ironically, the President can launch nuclear weapons without any due process, killing hundreds of millions, maybe billions, of people. No mortal—Democrat or Republican— should be given that sort of unchecked power.
No, you can’t just deport people without legal due process. No, you can’t just fire federal employees without legal due process. No, you can’t just impose across the board tariffs without Congress. If Trump tries, he’ll get SUED — slowing or stopping him entirely.

To re-iterate what should be widely known but isn’t—there are no nuclear checks & balances. The president has sole launch authority. In some scenarios, top officers at Stratcom might not even know the launch order has been sent. It is a true nuclear monarchy, and it is obscene.
@RadioFreeTom I have MAGA keep telling me over and over that there is a nuclear strike authorization chain of command that can hold Trump in check. That he cannot singularly order a nuclear strike. If nothing else, military will refuse to turn key because they'll discern it is an illegal order.

…With an impossible-to-calculate ROI bc if it works you never have to use. However, militaries initially built for deterrence (USA post WW2) find adventures (Iraq) when their mission suddenly is over. Plus also opportunity cost of reduced investment in schools, hospitals.

“Control immigration”. Anne Frank’s father applied for a visa through the American consulate. Had it been granted swiftly, the entire Frank family would have been saved. It’s okay to admit that the world is complicated, folks. Immigration can save innocent lives.
The Netherlands has a Holocaust museum and an Anne Frank House and still manages to host a pogrom because Holocaust education isn't the answer. The answer?. Enforce your laws. Control immigration. Stand up for civilization.

Europe alone. Gotta believe that if push came to shove we would have their back but this is exactly the painful question he should be asking.
Donald Trump a été élu par les Américains pour défendre l’intérêt des Américains. La question qui se pose à nous, Européens, c’est sommes-nous prêts à défendre l’intérêt des Européens ?

Thought-provoking thread on how France could use its nuclear “force de frappe” to extend a nuclear umbrella over Europe due to lack of confidence that a Trump-led U.S. would remain committed to its allies in case of nuclear conflict (I.e., risk Washington to save Berlin).
🇫🇷 The road toward a French ☢️ umbrella 🇪🇺. Dear European friends, times are tough and I know we French people can be a pain to deal with (working on it). But here are some ideas on how to work together to build a new nuclear umbrella over Europe. A thread 🧶
