Today is the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice. Irish people mark the day at Newgrange, a passage tomb that predates the pyramids, at over 5,000 years old. https://t.co/LUV6S3uv0R

Mapmaking was once a dangerous pursuit. Take Richard Bartlett (some of his maps pictured) who accompanied English armies into Ulster to chart newly colonised lands, but in 1609 he was beheaded in Donegal because, “the inhabitants would not have their country discovered.”

More exciting results from a pilot study on creatine supplementation for Alzheimer's disease. Participants who took 20 grams per day experienced a ~2 kg increase in handgrip strength and an increase in thigh muscle cross-sectional area after 8 weeks. That's without training.
