The whole point of advocating and raising the alarm regarding the space crisis(yes it is) is not that it’s only 200 turned away at one high school, then 350 turned away at another it’s that NO ONE should get turned away and be a loser for a seat at any of our Public high schools.

With that, one of the wildest sittings in Alberta history has come to an end. 4 uses of the Notwithstanding Clause; 1 new immuity granted to the Minister of Justice; 0 support for Albertans when they need it most. Wishing all MLAs safe travels home for the holidays #ableg

No government is above the rule of law. Invoking the notwithstanding clause to override fundamental human rights is undemocratic and cannot stand. Tomorrow it will be your rights at risk.
In late 2024, Alberta’s government passed legislation to preserve the choices of children and youth, improve access to health services and protect children, families, and parental involvement in the education system. Since passing this legislation, three lawsuits have been filed

The UCP has invoked the Notwithstanding Clause again — this time to attack vulnerable trans kids. This is why unions stood in Solidarity with the 2SlGBTQ+ community yesterday. “If they can use it to strip rights from workers and now vulnerable trans kids, who’s next?”

Which would lead you to predict a need > 700,000 doses. There is no 'safety valve'. The vaccine 'order' is manufactured by the companies as requested by the province. Our government ordered 450,000 doses. Public Health advised against the 30% reduction. /4

The UCP saved face by cancelling January diplomas exams. They know they would never be able to find enough teachers to mark them. Frankly, if I were them I’d be VERY worried about staffing June diploma and PAT marking as well. #abed #abpoli #edchat #abteachers

The UCP government has invoked time allocation on a bill removing Albertans' Charter rights. And they're using the notwithstanding clause to do it. Here's why that is a dangerous precedent. And why real conservatives need to stand up against it. https://t.co/YPsu65S0Wt

“This isn’t a left-right issue. It’s a constitutional one. UCP chose to use time allocation & the notwithstanding clause not because it had no other legal path, but because it wanted to set a precedent: When opposition & rights are inconvenient, it will override them.” #ableg

"Any government that undermines or abandons the project of improving public-school education in the face of difficulty is undermining and abandoning democracy. And, in my estimation, the current gov't is abandoning democracy." - AB Min of Ed, 1979-1986 https://t.co/TtpWQxBeoN
