Google’s Nano Banana Pro is by far the best image generation AI out there. I gave it a picture of a question and it solved it correctly in my actual handwriting. Students are going to love this. 😂

One of my favorite lessons I’ve learnt from working with smart people: Action produces information. If you’re unsure of what to do, just do anything, even if it’s the wrong thing. This will give you information about what you should actually be doing. Sounds simple on the

We put together an axisymmetric bioheat FEM model with a PID control loop informed by IR surface imaging — and the results were super interesting. The tissue warms up and quickly homogenizes, with no long-lasting hotspots inside the tumor.

This was a short but really fun collaboration! My labmate Ann Liu asked if I could help her model how a subQ tumor heats up under a therapeutic ultrasound transducer using a hydrophone-measured acoustic field.

In Science, researchers report the observation of dendritic nanotubes in brain tissue from mice and humans. The discovery suggests that the current understanding of the brain’s organization may be incomplete, overlooking a hidden layer of connectivity. Learn more in a new

An exciting milestone for AI in science: Our C2S-Scale 27B foundation model, built with @Yale and based on Gemma, generated a novel hypothesis about cancer cellular behavior, which scientists experimentally validated in living cells.  With more preclinical and clinical tests,

NASA is sending a helicopter to Saturn's moon Titan to fly through its atmosphere and search for signs of life. We recently hosted NASA JPL scientist Dr. Morgan Cable to tell us all about it at Astronomy on Tap, and her talk is now up on YouTube here: https://t.co/H4WQZyOdzr

I met a founder today who said he writes 10,000 lines of code a day now thanks to AI. This is probably the limit case. He's a hotshot programmer, he knows AI tools very well, and he's talking about a 12 hour day. But he's not naive. This is not 10,000 lines of bug-filled crap.

The ISS transiting our sun: a photograph that requires the right equipment and sufficient planning to pull off. While I’ve captured the ISS many times, this is one of my favorite photos of it. Something incredibly humbling seeing it juxtaposed against the power of our star.
