With that being said, you can’t only do it when it’s easy. You live with them and you die with them.

I believe that to truly become an elite competitor, an athlete needs one or more people in their life to test them: Physically, Emotionally, and Psychologically - to a level the athlete cannot imagine. The caveat: That person cannot be your mother or father.

Hard coaching means someone believes in you and your ability to improve. Great players don’t see it as an attack. They see it as the ultimate compliment.

“I need you to lock in… I believe in you but you got to want this moment.“ Coach: Eye contact, reaffirming confidence while giving criticism Player: Eye contact, listening, responding This is some good coaching and credit to the player being coachable! https://t.co/qNxoE6DhYt

My sophomore year, my coach - the great Norm Persin - told 15 year old me I “couldn’t guard a fucking snowman with no arms” in the middle of a game and broke his marker he was bashing it so hard on the clipboard as he screamed it into my face. I went on to be a 2x top 100

It's always a good idea for the coach to have a goal with every interaction they have with their players. Whatever Pitino wants from his player, do you think this is the **best** way to get him to change the way he's playing? https://t.co/jH9gSQ3E34

I played for Coach Pitino at Kentucky. And yes that’s the best way because that’s his way & it works. Always have worked. If you played for him you would know to just listen to the words, not the tone. The tone is the energy he gives you. Soak it in & you will get better

Log off at 5PM, not 8PM. Take your full lunch break, not 5 minutes at your desk. Use your PTO, don’t accumulate it. Set boundaries at work, don’t just push through. You’re an employee, not a machine.
