This is a cynical ploy to cling onto party members and core Conservatives voters. Some will be taken in. If they thought this was the right thing to do, wouldn’t they have done it at any time over the past 14 years or just before the general election? Won’t ever happen….

Stamp duty’s plagued Britain since Labour introduced it in 2003. It can’t be reformed, it can’t be tweaked: it has to go. Conservatives will abolish stamp duty and stop penalising those who want to own a home, build a family or to downsize.
