Few things as bleak as the war on woodburning stoves. The joy of a dog sleeping by a roaring, crackling fire.
At last! Govt act on middle class fashion accessories that poison neighbours. “In some places, won’t be possible to use wood-burning stoves at all.” Expect squeals, fightback from pollutionists. By my excellent colleague @horton_official

Imagine your pension being spent on funding council housing, which you wouldn't be eligible to live in because you had the temerity to get a job and pay taxes.
There’s £3 TRILLION in UK pension funds. We need Progressive Pensions so this money works for the people whose payslips fund it. Investments should reflect our priorities - not fossil fuels or firms complicit in war crimes. Let’s invest in the council housing people need.

It is amazing that the government thinks the policy failure is the hotels and not allowing illegal immigrants into the country.
Crowborough in well-heeled Sussex: 4000 people (a fifth of the town's population) protested yesterday against hundreds of male refugees being housed in a former barracks a mile out of the town centre. Government is in for a shock if it thinks moving away from hotels will solve

The deal – part of the UK-US Economic Prosperity Deal – sees the UK become the only country in the world to secure a zero percent tariff on pharmaceuticals to the US - protecting UK-based manufacturing and cementing our place as a world leader for life sciences investment.

It's very weaselly to present this as a "flashpoint in the culture wars", as if the academics were ambushed by groypers, rather than them being far-left activists who attacked the concept of Anglo-Saxons because they hate white people.
Anti-immigration protests took on a new fury in the second half of this year, but also a new floridity. They are now carnivals of historic symbol. My piece on the rise of Anglo Saxon Nationalism. The English have begun to hate: https://t.co/LcZo7IciBj

🏹 Great to have our @mannieigwe mentioned at the top of @TheCriticMag's Monday Missive newsletter after his excellent article dissecting the Budget. Read the full newsletter here: https://t.co/ERAXBIWBwo

Good Morning folks! As the Chancellor faces accusations of misleading the Cabinet to justify tax rises, I write in @TheCriticMag that the budget fails to provide a credible plan for growth or the investment needed to revive Britain’s struggling economy.👇

Four reasons to resist the siren calls for a new UK-EU Customs Union... ⚠️ 1⃣ most UK-EU trade is already tariff-free (as long as 'rules of origin' are met), but a UK-EU Customs Union would mean higher tariffs on UK trade with the rest of the world... 🧵

A tour de force by @L_Wastell and @PimlicoJournal on the history of the Race Relations Act and its role in strangling freedom of speech in Britain. A law which not only criminalises behaviour, but thoughts as well. https://t.co/h3dxkPKgd2

The electorate is voting for a party with a grand total of one (1) policy. What do they want? What could we offer them to persuade them to vote for us instead? We cannot know. It is literally impossible to know.
There's only one question for Germany: what policies will stop the inexorable rise of the AfD, which is heading for 30% in the polls. This will literally tip Europe if it continues. Germany with AfD in government won't stand up to Russia. And it also won't stick with the Euro...

We were told in very stern terms by Serious people that migrants could not access the welfare system just like this. Very odd.

The new piece by @edwest on jury trials is brilliant. Dispensing with jury trials because of cost reasons, advocated by the left, and because of multicultural reasons, advocated by some of the right, would be a disaster, a victory only for the state. https://t.co/7qmhpxctGm

Hitchens wants to be the final Englishman and the last conservative on the planet. It's more about his own sense of vindication and martyrdom. It is very important he is denied this dream.

What a terrible, terrible disaster.
🚨 Dressed in a black puffer coat with a revolver in hand, a picture has emerged showing the moment an Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal ambushed US National Guards on the streets of Washington DC. One soldier, Sarah Beckstrom, 20, has died from her injuries. Another

@StefanFSchubert I disagree. There’s been a large upward revision in ONS emigration figures, and the issue itself has been underrated by the electorate and press since the 80s. Current *net* emigration of 127,000/year of British nationals aged between 16-44 is 30% (!) of the number of births in

I can only assume this game is intended to be played with a Straussian mindset. In that sense it is very helpful.
Spoiler - I failed. I refused to ban all cars, make us all eat insects or introduce a global carbon tax. The Financial Times have helpfully distilled green blob groupthink into a short game. Naturally, no points are offered for considerations of economic trade offs. 🧵

“This was a Budget for people who receive welfare and benefits, and not for working people” Businessman Luke Johnson says “there is no growth” from the government’s Budget and he “cannot remember a time” businesspeople in the UK were “as demoralised as they are” #bbcqt
