No, it is more certainly not a much more promising theory of change. No one besides a few neo-cons at cozy DC think tanks want the U.S to spend billions on rebuilding an (already) failed state in our hemisphere.
#Venezuela: With respect to the @NicolasMaduro regime: "Rather than a ground invasion aimed at regime change, regime collapse seems to be a much more promising theory of change, and it is worth pursuing," I wrote in @ForeignPolicy this week. Latest: https://t.co/Osr3TdIAWB

As a North Korea expert, I reviewed Moe Taylor’s book and it was one of the most pro-DPRK books I’ve ever read. It’s still crazy to me that someone with that type of worldview now works as a “senior policy analyst” for the Canadian government. Scary.
Wild to think the Canadian government has a North Korea apologist on payroll. If the “Trudeau is Castro’s son” conspiracy theorists sees this, they’re going to have an absolute field day — and honestly, who could blame them?

There are two major North Korea-focused news sites in the English speaking world. One is essentially the personal fiefdom of the founders. And the other is a rigorous news site that is open to a diversity of views & operates a vibrant podcast. Take from this what you will.

I work at an HBCU in North Carolina, Fayetteville State University, and we too would love some of this same generosity from @mackenziescott We have extremely limited funds right now for faculty travel, faculty research, student research, etc.
Morgan State University President David Wilson got a mysterious phone call at the start of October: a confidential high profile donor was interested in giving to the HBCU. Two weeks later, $63 million was in Morgan’s bank account. Here’s what happened: https://t.co/87lmFNC8vA

Besides Venezuelan military, those leftist Colombian rebel groups, especially the ELN, are battle hardened and would love to finally confront the evil U.S empire head on.

A U.S invasion of Venezuela would be bad strategy on multiple fronts. But even more than that, I think we are underestimating how difficult it would be.

American pundit understanding of socialism and communism is beyond horrid. Most of these of Dems are thinking of Nordic-style social democracy when it comes to socialism, not Venezuelan mafioso corruption. But sure, whatever fits your pre-existing narrative, Noah…
Pretty weird that Dems are getting more into socialism after Chavez/Maduro made Venezuela look like it had just been nuclear bombed

You fled to Canada. Be quiet.
Any American medium that fails to cover the largest protests in American history is failing in the basic mission of informing the public about the facts. #NoKings

Possible Trump-Kim photo-op session at the DMZ again?
The last time Trump visited the DMZ, he stepped over it to become the first sitting President to ever visit North Korea and meet its leader. Apparently this could happen again in a few weeks. https://t.co/8qoaZGohr6

Famous Putinist sycophant Russian Singer, Shaman, meeting Kim Jong Un after his recent concert in North Korea. This renewed Russo-DPRK alliance is going to outlive the end of the Ukraine war. Military, diplomatic, and socio-cultural channels have all been strengthened.

One of my favorite podcast series: Net Assesment with @ZackCooper and @profmarlowe . I think North Korea specialists should take a special look at this latest episode as there has been so many bad predictions about NK in the last decade!!!! And many from NK pundit class in DC!

I contributed a review to this roundtable. It’s a Good book, with some problems.

The most unqualified SecDef ever is clearly overcompensating and trying to make up for his lack of pedigree with this "warrior ethos" BS. Good times!
New: Hegseth summoned top officers to Virginia to deliver a speech about the "warrior ethos" & outline a new vision for the US military, sources say. He's also expected to discuss new readiness, fitness and grooming standards. Plan is to record it and post it to his socials later

This is not being widely reported in western news but a potential hotspot for inter-Korean conflict.
A North Korean merchant ship crossed the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the northwestern sea area at around 5 am this morning, retreating after warning broadcasts and warning shots from South Korea
