Yesterday I was very lucky indeed. I completed the Bognor #Parkrun but went into cardiac arrest soon after, within metres of an off-duty paramedic & a defibrillator that had never been used before. The defib now has a 100% success rate & I will forever be in the debt of Alice ❤️

An Emergency Department is like a sponge or a tardis it just keeps absorbing more patients… like @RCEM_VP says - it isn’t! It is in fact like a mug of boiling water - when it’s over flowing sadly people get hurt 😞

The relative risk of ambulance “drop and go” policies vs a more balanced harm reduction approach is unknown. The solution is ⬆️ hospital capacity (more beds, shortened length of stay), not increasing tension within stressed systems. An Emergency Department is not a tardis. 2/3
