Day 16: Exciting news this morning - I’m going home today! I am free of my telemetry monitor & leads; I won’t miss the view from my bed but sunrise from my window is memorable. Thank you @PHU_NHS to all your amazing staff 💚

The older generation (I seem to be the youngest here) quite rightly remembers our fallen war heroes but is quick to forget our NHS heroes, many of whom are 1st & 2nd gen migrants. Our wonderful NHS is not just the national institution, it includes every member of staff ❤️💙💚

The worst aspect of my hospital stay is that every patient I have interacted with is vehemently anti-migrant & cite Daily Mail headlines as their sources. Yet the Coronary Care Unit @PHU_NHS has a brilliantly diverse staff to whom these patients owe their lives.

Day 12: surgery was successful yesterday so my stay at QAH is nearing the end. But this view is hypnotic @PHU_NHS

Day 10 in the Big Brother Hospital: Whilst I was watching Inside No9 on @BBCiPlayer the nurses moved me to a different bed - guess which number? Lovely Remembrance ceremony at 11am outside my window and my view of Portsmouth is rather lovely ❤️ @PHU_NHS

Day 7: Friday is Fry-Day; fish & chips for lunch. MRI scan completed & my doctors now have a plan. Thank you to @SECAmbulance & @PHU_NHS for their care ❤️

@parkrun Important update - the first 2 people to find me unconscious were Callum & Jake, off-duty lifeguards who also know a thing or two about CPR. A so-far unidentified nurse was also assisting. How lucky am I to have these heroes save my life? Thank you all ❤️

Apparently my first words after being resuscitated were “Did I scan my barcode?” Thank you to the @Parkrun community & apologies for causing what must’ve looked a distressing scene.

Yesterday I was very lucky indeed. I completed the Bognor #Parkrun but went into cardiac arrest soon after, within metres of an off-duty paramedic & a defibrillator that had never been used before. The defib now has a 100% success rate & I will forever be in the debt of Alice ❤️

Spent an enjoyable but exhausting day @unisouthampton with my new PhD student cohort with the @SouthCoastDTP My brain feels like a saturated sponge already. Great to bump into @lisa_sugiura en route who was important in my decision to apply.

For a Nelson geek like me, the @portsmouthuni PhD induction day @PHDockyard was tremendous - already looking forward to tomorrow.
