Happy International Women's Day #IWD2023 From Florence Nightingale & Mary Seacole to many of the contemporary nurses & midwives working in our communities today, women have always played key roles in nursing. Challenge discrimination, honour women's achievements & #EmbraceEquity

Today, @goranhenriks & I spoke with South West urgent & emergency care clinical leads. We discussed the importance of psychological safety, built on trust. When we start working in collaborative, highly relational ways, we can't just switch trust off sometimes. See this proverb.

Many people who, like me, are in the latter part of our careers understand that our role is increasingly about planting trees. This means developing the people who'll be our successors & helping them to shine. It also involves getting more radical about change. Art: @ImpactWales

I totally agree! 👏
I read this quote today: “Culture is a consequence of actions rather than beliefs” (Via @andreasholmer). "Culture change" projects often fail when they focus on beliefs/values rather than actions. Better to enable culture change by doing real work in line with improvement goals.

The best thing I have ever done, along with the best people I ever met. I will be forever grateful to QNIS and I am so proud to be a Queen’s Nurse ❤️
"All felt the QNDP changed their way of thinking and perspective which they perceived as life-long." Thanks to the authors of this evaluation of the QNIS Queen's Nurse Development Programme. An insightful report researching the programme impact on the 2017 and 2018 cohorts.

The minute I started my health visiting placement I knew that I had found my home in nursing. I am in a specialist infant feeding post but will forever be a community nurse, by head and heart ❤️
Congratulations to our partners @iHealthVisiting who are celebrating their 10th anniversary 👏 We hope your important work in raising awareness of Health Visiting continues for many years to come. @Alison_Morton2 @CheryllMa

I care! 🙋♀️ What they don’t have are people who value and protect breastfeeding and there are lots of us! We are here, and we won’t stop calling them out! @alisonthewliss @NatalieDon_ @iHealthVisiting @BurdettTrust @AlisonMcFDundee @jdalzell12 @anneeva101 @
Preconception health, education and care still marginalised by governments. So, who IS investing in prospective parents? Multinational corporations keen to market milk formula! https://t.co/pXoZJcysko Who cares? WHO cares! 1/3 @DrLizSmith1

Community nursing is in a unique position to identify carers, initiate conversations and offer support. Unpaid carers should be included as equal partners in care. Information on how to support carers can be found at @CarersUK website here 👉 https://t.co/xXOqk62jZ4

Wow! Thank you everyone for your kind comments 🥰 the next task is to make sure that in Scotland we normalise breastfeeding at a young age - and then develop knowledge through schools. We are almost ready to launch! Watch this space 👀 ❤️#BreastfeedingFriendlyScotland 🏴💕
