Mine was being told to mask my then-toddler son all day, and have him surrounded by ppl wearing masks (including me, his mom) all day. It prompted me to write this blog, which led to my interest in the mental health benefits of free speech.

My “woke breaking point” was the black squares in 2020, the “mostly peaceful riots” and the cry to defund the police & call the social worker.

Guilty as charged! Publishers Weekly says my book is a "slanted polemic for the value of speaking one's mind, even if it means being politically incorrect". I think they meant this as an insult 🤣 🤣🤣. Check it out for yourself at the link below👇. 📚

So true. There's also a psychology term called "weaponized incompetence" that comes to mind with some of these issues 💯.

“Low EQ” can be a weapon used by high-neuroticism managers to put down highly productive male employees. Or by racist Harvard admissions officers to attack Asian merit. We have to fight back on this “pop psychology” that undercut American productivity and created Woke Inc.

When mental health clinicians work in agencies where financial and administrative agenda take priority, cognitive dissonance kicks in quickly. “I practice this way because there’s no choice” morphs into “this is good enough care,” which morphs into “this is optimal care”. Seen it.

I want to be on-the-record and crystal clear. This is a disastrous policy that will do vastly more harm than good. Watch as tens of thousands of Illinois kids get shoved into the mental health funnel and convinced they are sick. Many or most of which will be false positives.

How often do we silence ourselves just to keep the peace? I used to do that—until I realized it wasn’t helping anyone, least of all me. Self-censorship isn’t just a workplace issue; it’s a mental health one. My book, Can I Say That?, is my take on how free speech protects mental

So true. What disturbs me most is when patients say their general physician prescribed the antidepressants during a routine checkup when the patient endorsed a threshold number of symptoms on the required "checkbox screening" at checkup. Big pharma = assembly line.

Most therapists are scared to admit it, but SSRIs can undermine the therapeutic process (& often do). By blunting emotions, they can dial down the very signals & experiences therapy depends upon to work; creating a form of dissociation that less enables than disrupts healing.
