It’s official! I filed for re-election. We've made important progress over the last two years to support working families, protect public education and were tireless in standing up against dangerous extremism. But there's so much more to do.
#NHPolitics
The vote today on 1431 said we trust our NH teachers. We’re here to make every child feel welcomed and safe. A huge win for our LGBTQ community.
#nhpolitics
Today I introduced SB 117 that would raise the age of our safe storage act from 16 to 18. This bill will help prevent children from accessing their parents weapons. As a parent and a legislator it’s our job to prevent gun violence.

@DebrasATeam
@MomsDemand
Honored to attend the annual Democratic Eleanor Roosevelt dinner. Even more honored to talk with Secretary Pete
@SecretaryPete
about New Hampshire!
#NHPolitics
Thank you District 10! Tonight I am so proud to be elected as your State Senator. You all have put your trust in me, and I will work every day to continue to earn that trust. We ran our campaign on issues that matter to the people of District 10. On to Concord we go!
#NHPolitics
I am proud to announce my candidacy for State Senate here in district 10. I believe a strong, young voice is exactly what the New Hampshire State Senate needs right now.
#nhpolitics
Thank you District 10! I am so proud to be your Democratic nominee for State Senate. I am so grateful to everyone who came together and joined in our campaign focused on improving the lives of the people in our communities and creating an even better NH for everyone.
#NHPolitics
Today I was sworn in to the New Hampshire State Senate. It is my honor to represent and fight for District 10. There is so much work to be done to make our state the best it can be. I look forward to serving the needs of the district and NH.
#NHPolitics
Why local elections matter: NHGOP just passed an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape, incest and fetal health. It also criminalizes doctors with up to 7 years in prison. And it was all put into THE BUDGET.
#NHPolitics
HB 1431 is a train wreck of a bill. Let’s promote a safe environment for our NH students. This bill would end that special trust and confidentiality between a student and their teacher. The LGBTQ community and our children deserve better.
#nhpolitics
I am happy today that my bill
#HB520
has passed the house. This requires equal access to diaper changing stations for men and woman in public accommodations. NH is proud to support all families.
#nhpoliltics
It’s a family affair at the state house! I am here for committee and my mom
@JoAnnFenton216
is here to testify on SB415 which would increase rates paid to homless shelters.
#NHPolitics
After considerable discussion and thought with my family, supporters and friends old and new from across NH, I have determined that my work in the State Senate is where I can make the most positive impact for Granite Staters right now.
My first term in the NH House I had to leave my committee for a awhile while my wife and I had a difficult pregnancy. We had quite a few doctor visits. One of the people who called to check in on us was Kathi Rogers. I’ll never forget the compassion she showed us.
#NHPolitics
What a wild ride! We were able to pass HB 251 today which would require children under the age of two to be in a rear facing car seat. As a father this bill has been a priority for me to protect those who don’t have a voice.
#NHPolitics
Half of the trash coming into NH is actually coming from out of state. If we want a greener future, we need to curb our waste and stop other states from dumping their trash here. I hope the Governor signs my bill to help protect NH.
#NHPolitics
The strength from the
#LGBTQ
+ community today amazes me. To open up and share their stories here at the State House takes immense courage.
#NHPolitics
I’m proud to introduce these two bills that will protect our children. The correct car seat can decrease death, or serious injury by 70%. We also know that firearms are the leading cause of death for children and teens, ages 1 to 18 in the US.
#NHPolitics
It’s great to have
@RepRaskin
here in NH! We discussed how important this coming election is alongside
@RepAnnieKuster
. They are true public servants that fight for our democratic values everyday.
#NHPolitics
Guns have no place in our classrooms and no place on school property. My bill to establish gun free school zones will help keep our children safe. We will not be silent on this issue
#NHPolitics
Amazing night last night! My mom
@JoAnnFenton216
, was awarded the McIntyre-Shaheen legacy award! She has worked tirelessly for the people of her community for over 30 years. I’m proud of you, mom.
@JeanneShaheen
#NHPolitics
We must reject any attempts to mimic misguided book ban bills. Let's uphold our state's commitment to intellectual freedom and diversity of thought.
#NHPolitics
Deeply honored to receive an award from
@NHDems
Huge thanks to all my incredible colleagues. Let's keep up the momentum and get the right people elected at every level. Together, we can make real change happen!
#NHPolitics
I got punked HARD today! I would like to thank my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, who decided to sit in the most comfortable office chair there is (my chair). But this means war.
#NHPolitics
I am humbled to have the endorsement of
@AnnMcLaneKuster
. She has been a fighter for the Granite State her whole life. She has set the example for how legislators should care for and serve their constituents. I am honored to have the opportunity to do the same.
#NHPolitics
I am honored to have the faith and trust of
@jaykahnnh
in this race. I plan to honor his legacy of leadership and service, acting as a fierce advocate for the interests of the people of District 10.
#NHPolitics
There’s so much to say about the decision yesterday but I am still at a loss for words. What I can say, is that I will never stop fighting for woman’s healthcare rights. It’s a right that we demand and we will not settle for anything less.
#NHPolitics
.
@NHSierraClub
I am honored to receive the Sierra Club’s endorsement. I am constantly in awe of our state’s natural beauty and I will fight to preserve it. As your State senator, I will continue my record of environmental protection and preservation
#NHPolitics
It’s our job to make sure everyone is treated equally and equitably. This bill would single out students of the LGBTQ+ community and have major consequences. I will continue to stand up for equal rights for everyone in NH and fight this awful bill.
#NHPolitics
🎉👏 Huge congratulations to
@RepAnnieKuster
for her tireless dedication and leadership! Your commitment to serving the people of New Hampshire is truly inspiring. Here's to many more achievements ahead!

Gun-free schools create safe environments where students can focus on learning without fear. Protecting our children's well-being should always be the priority.
#NHPolitics
The rights for parents that this bill claims to cover, already exist in statute. The intention of this bill is to single out students who are members of the
#LGBTQ
+ community. I will always fight to protect ALL students.
#NHPolitics
I'm committed to tackling homelessness in NH head-on. We must come together as a community to provide support, resources, and solutions to those experiencing homelessness. It's time for meaningful change.
#NHPolitics
I am so saddened to hear of the news in Maine. When I introduced legislation for gun safety and gun violence prevention, the argument against it was that we don’t have that problem here in NH.. Everyday it’s getting closer to home.
#NHPolitics
.
@CindeWarmington
has been the strongest advocate for reproductive healthcare, among other Democratic priorities, on the Executive Council. Her confidence in me to continue the fight for these issues in the State Senate is immense.
#NHPolitics
Today, NH federal court struck down the harmful banned concepts teaching law. This is a huge win for our educators, who deserve the freedom to teach truth and foster critical thinking without fear. Proud to stand with our teachers in supporting honest education!
#NHPolitics
VICTORY: We just won our case alongside
@GLADLaw
,
@NEANHNews
,
@AFTNewHampshire
and
@DRCNH
in which a New Hampshire federal court has ruled that NH’s classroom censorship law is unconstitutional and has ordered the state to stop enforcing it immediately.
So proud that my mother
@JoAnnFenton216
is getting an award for everything she does. She works tirelessly for the Democrats. She always says that’s she’s my number one fan but in reality I’m her number one fan!
#nhpolitics
On Oct. 26th, we're honoring incredible Granite State activists who have helped turn NH blue. Join us, the 4 awardees we've shared so far, and the ones to come (get excited!) at our 2019 Eleanor Roosevelt Awards Celebration. Get tickets here:

Happy to see 11 NH mayors backing my Emergency Housing Assistance Bill. With rising housing costs, this bill is a lifeline for families facing eviction and homelessness. It’s a crucial step towards ensuring everyone has a roof over their heads.
#NHPolitics
Children deserve safe spaces to learn and grow. My proposed bill aims to ensure just that by prohibiting anyone but law enforcement from carrying guns on school premises. Let's prioritize our kids' safety and foster environments conducive to education.
#NHPolitics
State Sen. Donovan Fenton, D-Keene, urged the N.H. Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday to support his bill to prohibit people from carrying guns on to school property.
I am introducing the Farmer Relief Fund. This bill will help our NH farmers who have been impacted by natural disasters. We are seeing unprecedented amounts of extreme weather, If we don’t support our farmers, there will be no food.
#NHPolitics
Thank you to the Professional Firefighters of Keene for your endorsement. I am honored to have your support in this race. Firefighters and first responders continually put their wellbeing at risk to protect us and I will always stand to protect them.
@Local_3265
#NHPolitics
We had a false alarm go off at the house and the Keene fire fighters showed up immediately. They even showed the boys some of their toys! We are so lucky to have such a wonderful department looking out for us, especially during the holidays.
Proud to champion SB 217, a crucial initiative to enhance teacher recruitment in rural and underserved schools. This bill is a testament to my commitment to providing quality education for all students across NH
#NHPolitics
We were in the state house from 9AM Thursday until 4AM Friday morning for a 19 hour session... and it was all worth it. Here is some of what we were able to accomplish.
#nhpolitics
I co-sponsored HB687 with
@DebrasATeam
which would have protected our communities from gun violence and it was vetoed by the governor. Vote this fall to protect our communities.
#Nhpolitics
Thank you Alstead democrats for inviting me to share my ideas of the future! As a young legislator I’ll never stop fighting for what’s important to us.
#NHPolitics
New Hampshire is lucky to have leaders like
@AnnMcLaneKuster
in congress. She has reshaped public policy and continues to find common ground to get the best results for all Granite Staters. I’m glad we had the opportunity to celebrate her dedication to serving this great state.
It’s great see my bill SB118 pass the House. It would require children under the age of 2 to be in a rear-facing car seat. This bill will help protect our most vulnerable population, our kids.
#NHPolitics
Last night we presented a check for $59,986 raised from the annual Fenton Family Golf Tournament for the Keene Community Kitchen. 320 families came through the pantry for food and groceries THIS WEEK alone. The work this organization does for food security is incredible.
I’ve had a busy first term in the Senate working on bills ranging from reproductive freedom to education. Big thanks to
@JeanneDietsch
and Peterborough dems for hosting our end of session recap. We have a long way to go, and I couldn’t do it without your support!
#NHPolitics
I visited Pete’s farmstand to talk about the extreme weather damage we saw all across NH. Farmers are looking for support and help with climate change. My farm bill will help farmers recover and give them the opportunity to thrive.
#NHPolitics
So proud of my
@NHHouseDems
this week. They showed courage and strength through adversity. Although I couldn’t be there due to having Covid, I couldnt be more proud to serve with them and call them family.
#nhpolitics
Great to see SB 106 signed into law! This is a huge step forward in addressing the shortage of childcare professionals. Providing quality childcare is a top priority for me, and this legislation will help ensure that families have access to the care they need.
#NHPolitics
In case you’re wondering what our NH government is doing about gun violence... Governor Sununu has vetoed stronger background checks and preventing guns on school property.
#nhpolitics
My family and I tested positive for Covid so I will not be at session today but I wanted to wish all of my colleagues good luck today in Manchester. They will do their best fighting.
#NHPolitics
Election Day Eve! I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone that has made this campaign possible, from our educators to our fire fighters and voters across District 10. We must get out and vote tomorrow
#NHPolitics
I’m disappointed to see my colleagues vote this down. This is a bipartisan bill that will work. Every state around us has legalized cannabis and it is time for NH to do the same. I will be voting on the Senate floor to pass this.
#NHPolitics
The Senate Judiciary Committee votes along party lines, 3-2, to send cannabis legalization legislation to the floor with a recommendation to kill the bill.
@TheNHSenate
is expected to add this bill to its calendar for Thursday's session.
#NHPolitics
#WMUR
On my last day as a House Rep we provided temporary relief for lower-income households dealing with high energy costs. We’re dealing with this because of the multiple veto’s of bills that would have decreased our dependence on fossil fuels.
Angry to see the Senate reject crucial landfill bills, disregarding efforts to address the influx of out-of-state waste and environmental risks. We must prioritize sustainable waste management & prevent NH from becoming New England's trash bin.
#NHPolitics
Great to see the approval of $2.5M for emergency shelters, supporting my bill. This funding is crucial to keeping our shelters open year-round. However, it's just a start. We must tackle the root causes of homelessness in NH. Let's work together for lasting solutions.
#NHPolitics
The Senate just concurred with the House on SB 406, securing vital funds for emergency shelters in NH! This is a crucial step towards keeping our shelters open year-round and tackling the homelessness crisis. Thanks to all my colleagues for their support.
#NHPolitics
Why state and local elections matter: NH House GOP just tried to ban schools from providing menstural products to young women.
#NHPolitics
#LocalElections
I am pleased that my Sen colleagues joined me today in unanimously supporting my SB217! This bill will help address teacher shortages with a rural educator incentive program. I look forward to working with the Senate Finance Committee on this important legislation!
