Apples and oranges. Next door’s gardener is likely self-employed — no sick pay, no pension, no job security. If he’s unwell, he doesn’t earn. Resident doctors are trained professionals working gruelling, lifesaving shifts. Surely we can support them without the glib snobbery?.

Hey @wesstreeting the bloke who mows my neighbour's lawn and weeds the borders is on £20 p/h. Why are some resident doctors paid less than that? 🤔.

Ah yes, the classic “if you’ve ever had champagne, you forfeit all rights to fairness” argument. Really watertight stuff.

That's very inspiring, Chris. What sort of champagne is your favourite?.Are all doctors entitled to champagne?.Are taxpayers's entitled to champagne, or is it just for doctors?

After 40 years, a national inquiry into Orgreave is finally happening. A huge moment for mining communities and everyone who’s fought so hard for truth and justice. Solidarity with the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign—this really matters.

Month after month, everyone rightly slammed rising NHS waiting lists. Now they’re falling—let’s not go quiet. If they mattered then, they matter now. A generation of us had only ever worked under Tory rule—until now. Good news still feels unfamiliar.

This is just daft. It’s fine to oppose strike action in this instance—unions should always welcome democratic debate. But quitting because you didn’t like the result of a ballot? Suggests you were never really on board with the whole collective thing in the first place.

“Most resident doctors didn’t vote to strike” doesn’t land. 90% in favour on a 55% turnout is huge by any democratic standard. Strange how we expect higher thresholds for trade union ballots than for general elections. Sounds clever, means very little.

The rush to Ctrl+F a new document hunting for omissions is a bit cheap. The plan does reference end of life care multiple times. It’s an NHS plan, not a health and social care one—and much palliative care happens outside the NHS.

Aaaaand… “palliative care” is mentioned once. Once. In 168 pages. Our 10 year plan for dying people is:. - Neighbourhood teams will include hospice and palliative care staff. - Use of Personal Health Budgets for accessing hospice care.

The more you read, the better it gets — the first plan of its kind to truly recognise nurses as clinical leaders. We rightly criticised the Tories for ignoring nursing; logic dictates we applaud a government that gets it right.

There’s no gold-standard scientific age test—just flawed tools with wide error margins. Decisions about children’s safety need rigour and humanity. Claiming the Govt would rather endanger kids isn’t just unserious—it’s a disgraceful attempt to inflame and divide.

A judge has ruled a grey-haired Afghan was a child when he arrived here. These people put unbearable pressure on our care system in my home county, Kent, and endanger children in our schools. We have tools to check age scientifically but the Govt would rather put kids at risk.
