Somewhat quiet lately as I've been rather nervously preparing for an important interview. That interview takes place today at 10:30. Wish me luck!

The fictional Flower-class corvette HMS Compass Rose (K49) that appeared in the 1953 film 'The Cruel Sea' was actually the real-life warship HMS Coreopsis. The vessel, which served as a convoy escort in the Second World War, was scrapped shortly after filming these scenes.

Throwback: my photos of training ship FOUDROYANT at Portsmouth UK in Sept 1984. Built in Bombay, India in 1817, afloat at Pompey from 1954-1986, she regained her original name TRINCOMALEE in 1992 and has been restored as a sailing frigate and preserved at Hartlepool UK

This week the 59m French tall ship ‘Belem’ has been enjoying Plymouth and its waterfront. The passengers have had a few days exploring, before Thursday mornings departure. This historic vessel has dominated the skyline from afar with her impressive masts & rigging! #Plymouth
