The Thai Navy on 1 Oct decommissioned training ship PINKLAO 413, a Cannon-class destroyer escort transferred from the US Navy in 1959. Built in 55 weeks by Western Pipe in Los Angeles and commissioned in May 1944, she lasted more than 81 years in service! https://t.co/0nVlXK0bwV

Throwback: my photos of training ship FOUDROYANT at Portsmouth UK in Sept 1984. Built in Bombay, India in 1817, afloat at Pompey from 1954-1986, she regained her original name TRINCOMALEE in 1992 and has been restored as a sailing frigate and preserved at Hartlepool UK

Two fine warships decommissioned 25 Sept at Naval Station Norfolk: Ticonderoga-class cruisers PHILIPPINE SEA CG58 and NORMANDY CG60. Both built at Bath Iron Works. CG58 commissioned in March 1989, CG60 in Dec 1989. BZ and very well done. Photos-FB. Last shows CG60 plankowners
