Driving on a rural road out in the middle of nowhere we spotted this little guy in the road by a ditch. No humans or other puppies anywhere in sight, only farmland. Looks like we have a new puppy. He’s a sweet little fella. Kemosabe

UPDATE on the little puppy we rescued off the side of the road yesterday. We decided to name him Kemosabe after the Lone Ranger He was a Lone Ranger. We got lucky that we all found each other. Our little Joker died two weeks ago and we think he was sent to us by her. Red Heeler?

Last night was the second night little Kemo was with us. I’d forgotten what it was like having a puppy. Eat, Sleep, Poop, Eat … who cares if it’s 2 am? Still we’d have rescued him again! We’ve searched for an owner but no luck. We think he was dumped. Now he’s home forever.

Well we won’t be leaving the little cabin today. No solar power so we’re using our backup power supply. We got the wood in yesterday and extra water from the well in jugs. They say we can get up to 4 foot of snow. Yikes!

He’s chased the poor cat all over the house and made her drop her mouse, which set into motion a big fiasco, that included a knocked over water bowl, a screaming wife and a pissed off cat. He looks so innocent when he sleeps. It’s only 7:45am. Happy Sunday everyone !

One thing I’ve noticed about Kemosabi is that he moves his food bowl across the room and away from the other bowls. He will growl if anyone gets close to his food. That tells me there was probably a big litter and he didn’t get enough milk or had to fight for it. He’s growing!

Last Monday was 2 months since we found Kemosabi on that desolate road alone. It’s hard to fathom how fast he’s growing. His paws and ears are huge. We do think he’s Red Heeler and Great Pyrenees or Anatolian mix. Those dogs are prevalent here. We believe he can fly. Those ears.

These are Kemosabi’s brothers. Meet Zeke the wonder dog and Flacco. Zeke was a rescue from Texas and Flacco came from our local shelter here in the Valley. Kemosabi gets along well with everyone. Zeke now has a new playmate he can wrestle with. Flacco mostly watches.

Kemosabe Vet Visit: He passed his check up, wormed and his puppy shots. His brother Zeke another rescue success rode along. They said he looked like a Great Pyrenees/Heeler mix! That was a shock. He passed smooth out on the 45 min ride. He’s worn out and asleep again going home.

Lil Kemosabe is about ready to go on his 2nd car ride to see the vet. It’s a 45 drive to the small town of Monte Vista. It snowed a little so we can’t wait to see how he reacts to cold white powder on his furry paws. We found him all alone in the country, actually he found us.
