We've also identified one of the shooters as Landon Steiger, hired in 2009. This is Steiger's second shooting. The first was in 2021. We're still working on definitively identifying the other two, but they were apparently rookies who just completed training.

UPDATE: The Office of Police Accountability has opened an investigation into the three officers who fatally shot a man in SODO on Oct. 30. While OPA has opened investigations into every 2025 shooting, this one is different. The allegations are "Conformance to Law," not force.
CW: Shooting/Death It's clear as day that this man dropped his gun immediately before SPD officers opened fire. He was complying with their orders, and they shot him.

During the 2020 protests, Lt. Michael Tietjen racked up the most sustained complaints — including one for driving an SUV onto a sidewalk full of protesters and calling them "cockroaches." SPD rewarded him with a promotion to watch lieutenant at the North Precinct
