the problem is that we don't "randomly cut everything by 10-35%." when it comes to austerity, the first things on the chopping block are always education, healthcare, and aid to the poor. why don't we first try "randomly" chopping corporate welfare and "see what happens?"

Until we balance the budget, I’m literally for randomly cutting everything by 10-35% and seeing what happens At least on this scenario we live to fight another day BTW: this is what happens to individuals who go broke: credit cards turn off & Netflix gets paused! 😂

Paramedics should be taught to present patients similarly to how it’s taught in medical school (abridged version). Everyone knows what to expect.

Hot take: when calling Med control, start with what you want, then tell the story. “I’m calling for termination. I have a 72 yo male unwitnessed…” Just giving the story and then waiting doesn’t help. Do you want to stop CPR? Give bicarb? Give a sedative? #EMS #FOAMed

So @olsonplanner I’m enrolled in SAVE (by decree) and now sitting in forbearance while opportunity for qualifying low payments in residency drain away. Is there any alternative other than wait and see what happens? @usedgov this is trash @reverendofdoubt

Who wants to start the class action lawsuit against Mohela and government for this student loan shambles— not being able to switch out of save, not having these months count when you can’t make payments or switch plans, etc.

Evidence is not mounting. There is already ample safety data. It is time to allow this drug in the US!

When I was a 4th year med student an insurance salesman talked me into applying for disability insurance. (Even though I had no income) The problem? I got denied due to a PMH To this day, I cannot get disability insurance because of that mistake Wanna know why #medtwitter ?

These numbers are brutal. RCT comparing FPS with DL and VL in neonates. VL FPS: 74% DL FPS: 45%

Presented at #PAS2024: Intubation in neonates is challenging, and repeated attempts are associated with adverse events. Among neonates undergoing urgent intubation, video laryngoscopy resulted in more successful first attempts than direct laryngoscopy. https://t.co/wRywKSRg8u

Another source of student debt. Very common as students spend thousands on third party resources considered essential for high Step scores. Many traditional lectures not relevant to USMLE or faculty’s niche area (tho many lectures clinically useful even if not geared to USMLE)

Your school curriculum that is costing you $350,000 isn’t enough to pass the exams you need to complete in order to graduate said school? Come again??

Pts who overdose on fentanyl have a higher one year mortality than patients who have a STEMI post PCI. The NNT for buprenorphine is 2. There is no other medication that we prescribe in the ED with a greater impact on mortality. -@callan_fockele on the @NAEMSP Townhall.

4 victims of gun violence a day. 1,500 cases per year. That’s what we see and care for here @HennepinHC @hcmcEM @HcmcSurgery Gun violence is a public health emergency. It’s neighbors, friends, parents, children. We have to do better.

Last year alone, Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis treated 285 shooting victims. That's nearly one a day. Eighty-five percent of them are now survivors.
