As a parent, this is front of mind for me every day. As an advocate, this is dead on for the dangers facing our kids. These risks at home, and in the classroom, have to be confronted.

When #Mississippi embraced science-of-reading, students thrived—especially those most in need. #Pennsylvania has the chance to do the same with bipartisan literacy bills. Let’s make it happen!

Pennsylvania can take the example from neighboring states and start prioritizing evidence-based literacy instruction for kids. It's a problem that shouldn't take this long to solve.
Literacy policy changes lives. We’ve seen the proof positive in many states that have taken steps to prioritize evidence-based literacy instruction. We only need to find the political will to pass legislation that has floundered for multiple years. Kids can’t wait.

In #Indiana, high school apprenticeships are reshaping what success looks like for students like Ty Zartman—earning, learning and launching real careers before graduation. More on Indiana’s bold vision for college & career pathways here ⤵️

High school apprenticeships are slowly spreading, as young people become more disillusioned with four-year college and well-paying jobs that don’t require bachelor’s degrees go begging.

Public schools in North Carolina are now cell-phone free zones. Teachers can start next school year knowing they won’t have to compete with social media for student attention, our kids get a mental break, and real learning can happen. This bipartisan bill represents a

Great video highlighting the impact of @GovMikeDeWine's leadership and the work @OHEducation and the Ohio legislature have put into supporting #literacy and a statewide transition to the #SoR. This doesn't happen without investments into literacy coaches and quality curriculum.
The Science of Reading is making a tremendous impact on early literacy in Ohio. Reading is the key to everything for our children – it opens the door to education, to employment, and to life.

To legislators in New Hampshire, as you consider making your schools phone free: Multiple studies now show that bell-to-bell policies greatly reduces class-time disruptions. Banning phones only during classtime does not help much https://t.co/YAAohNpOzJ
Major new survey from National Education Association gives very strong support for phone-free schools. Any policy that lets kids have phones BETWEEN classes disrupts what happens IN class. Give teachers a chance. Go phone-free. https://t.co/bjJGaHM6vl
