Now that I’ve reached 2400 followers, I think it’s time for a new intro post! Hi, I’m Jessica and I am a Tech Writer at Epic Games, focusing on Worldbuilding and Art Pipeline tools. Outside of that, I focus on Level Design in my spare time. Prior to the industry I was a teacher.

Indie dev day 289! Revamp of enemy stats. Before it calculated stats for all the enemies across the map at once. Now it only calculates once per enemy in active range of the player. Probably not huge cost savings, but felt good to figure out.

If you’re making some UI stuff, with enhanced input. The “is gamepad key” bool check is awesome to select which binding to display. I used the “any key” to set a bool “gamepad” and compare that bool to each input binding to select which to display. 🤷♂️ UI with UE5

Absolutely fuck this. No one is going to remember with fondness how many hours you spent working. Their fondest memories are going to be the time you took to experience life with them. Your art is going to be cherished. Someone will use your recipes. Work is a means to life.
