Now we know. As predicted 3 weeks ago: The Westminster 🇨🇳 spy case was dropped because conviction required the UK to evidence that China met the “enemy” threshold for the purposes of the Official Secrets Act. Anyone involved in this travesty should be looking for a new job.
Important to watch today's P'ment statement closely. Defendants could not be charged under the National Security Act, as it was not in force. They had to be charged under the Official Secrets Act which requires the accused to have assisted the "enemy". https://t.co/Lm79CDvsYu

Not the issue. There was never a risk of the whole thing being in jeopardy. The issue is that there is a persistent threat from adversaries, in and out of election cycles, that govt just now seems to be OK with.

🚨 U.K. just ordered Apple to break iCloud encryption. The target? Every Briton’s backups. Officials want far more than just disabling Advanced Data Protection—secret orders demand access to entire categories of iCloud data. How deep does this go? ↓ https://t.co/zatqkEjPTs

You identified FI. This phrasing keeps suggesting all is fine. It isn't. A foreign adversary is actively meddling in your country's affairs and on a regular basis. Btw what second likely looks like

Curious what this will do to govt narratives that wanted all attention on India instead of China. Being second here is likely more like the image in the thread. These "free and fair" election messages also need to stop.
