The likely election of Catherine Connolly, like the outcomes of recent referendums, underscores a persistent misreading by Ireland’s media-political class of the public mood and the median voter. #Aras25

Enjoyed our trip to The Showgrounds last night. Have to say that I really like Sligo. It's a lovely part of the country. Will return next year.

VAR is giving officials carte blanche to interpret technicalities - that ultimately appear entirely inconsequential in the context of play - and cancel out match-defining moments. Football should not be hostage to this level of bureaucratic subjectivity.

#OnThisDay 1938 Tom Crean passed away. He joined the Royal Navy at 16 & volunteered for his first Antarctic exploration in 1901. Crean raced with Scott to reach the South Pole & was on Shackleton's ship which sank & saw him sail 800 miles to organise a rescue. #Ireland #History

Underrated advice: The worst mistakes in life are made when you try to do fast what’s meant to be done slow. Real, durable things take a long time to build. Careers. Businesses. Relationships. Health. There are no hacks or shortcuts. The long way is the right way.
