@BioImagingCore @CARTANAbio @scilifelab @riken_en 9/ Further work is needed to understand whether, and when, removal of amyloid plaques—for instance by antibody therapy—would be sufficient to reverse these ongoing cellular processes.

@BioImagingCore @CARTANAbio @scilifelab @riken_en 8/ Our data demonstrate that amyloid plaques are not innocent bystanders of the disease, as has been sometimes suggested, but in fact induce a strong and coordinated response of all surrounding cell types.

@BioImagingCore @CARTANAbio @scilifelab @riken_en 6/ A second network, enriched for genes involved in myelination and mainly expressed by oligodendrocytes, is activated under mild amyloid stress but becomes depleted in microenvironments with high amyloid accumulation.

@BioImagingCore @CARTANAbio @scilifelab @riken_en 5/ In AppNL-G-F mice, plaque-induced genes gradually co-express upon increasing Aβ load and encompass complement, endosomes and lysosomes, oxidation-reduction, and inflammation.

@BioImagingCore @CARTANAbio @scilifelab @riken_en 3/ We complemented this approach with an orthogonal in situ sequencing method that visualizes hundreds of selected transcripts with cellular resolution. We integrated all of the information into a fully accessible database https://t.co/XwCNr0bIdW

@BioImagingCore @CARTANAbio @scilifelab @riken_en 2/ A central question in AD research is the relationship of amyloid plaques to the neurodegenerative process. We used spatial transcriptomics to measure, in situ in hundreds of small tissue domains, genome-wide transcriptomics changes induced by amyloid plaques.
