“100 years later, redlining from 1933 is still one of the major explanations for lower amounts of bird information in areas that were previously redlined.” Research from @Diego_EllisSoto et al., comments by @DayerLab, story by @AstroKimCartier https://t.co/g8dwQR7ZZM

The lack of bird records in formerly redlined areas creates an inaccurate picture of urban biodiversity, leading to gaps in conservation efforts.

Yes, in some fields this would be an odd thing to have to announce or make a policy. #AcademicTwitter

Our Lab has a new policy (after an informal transition) to only send emails during "business hours" & on wkdays. Emails at other times should be scheduled for 8am the next morning (or after wknd/holiday). Exceptions ok for emergencies or deadlines, but should be infrequent.

Folks who choose to work unusual schedules can continue to do so (for example, to accommodate being able to pick up kids from school or camp). But their emailing late in the evening won't make others feel they should be working too. I used to do this all the time!
