Former North Carolina Gov. Jim Hunt (D) has died at 88. He kindly spoke to me for my negative campaigning book, a bit over 20 years after his epic 1984 Senate race against the late Sen. Jesse Helms (R-N.C.). Hunt lost that one, but went to be governor again, from 1993 to 2001.

This January 18th 1967 episode of Batman called "The Penguin Declines" has the late Rob Reiner in it. Rob was around 19 or 20 at the time. 2-3 year later he would tape the pilot for All in The Family

FWIW, while Texas has residency requirements for state-level offices, these do not apply to candidates for Congress. So, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) could run for a House district in Texas if he's a "resident" by the Republican primary, March 3, 2026.
