Just had lunch with a friend here in DC and it's hard to state how absolutely NOBODY is dining outdoors and how empty the restaurant is. Very few people walking on the streets on a gorgeous end-of-summer day.

Not really that unusual for D.C. to go seven consecutive days w/o a homicide. Happened in May and March (16 days, actually), last September, last August, last April, last March, last January. Plenty of 6-day stretches in there too. No homicides between 7/12 and 7/19 this year.

Thursday armed robbery took place right by where the DC National Guard is based in Southeast DC.
ARMED ROBBERY NEAR DC ARMORY. Mpd & Metro Transit was ion scene at the 200 Bl. of 19th St. S.E. investigating an armed robbery after a citizen was robbed at gunpoint by 3 individuals. One suspect was armed with a gun.

Food delivery drivers in DC taking the brunt of the crime crackdown.
Roughly 20 police and ICE officers on 13th & I NE to arrest a delivery driver. He is sobbing and asking to call his family. A group of neighbors have assembled to try and help him but the agents are yelling at us to go away.

This is the police union for the US Park Police, which is run by the feds. The FOP says their ranks are below where they were in the 1970's. That's a budget decision made by Congress. USPP is responsible for areas like the National Mall.
