At the Center, we'll collaborate closely with Bruker's experts to explore the Functional Microbiome. We aim to revolutionize diagnostics, improve therapeutic outcomes, and create innovative biotechnological solutions for biomedical applications.

I'm excited to share that I'll lead a new Center of Excellence for Metaproteomics, a joint venture between the University of Vienna and Bruker. This initiative will leverage cutting-edge mass spectrometry and AI to unravel the mysteries of the microbiome.

🔹the sensitivity of our PASEF-based platform @BrukerMassSpec enabled us to show the proteome changes leading to both disease and recovery. Thanks a lot to a great team of collaborators (Doriane Aguanno, Nora Mindermann and Dirk Haller).

🔹impaired mitochondria in the epithelial lining induce tissue injury similar to IBD.🔹one single Bacteroides species thrive and is enough to produce the disease phenotype❗️.🔹however, Akkermansia muciniphila reverts the disease phenotype ‼️.
