A neat study from @AlbertoArdid who has led a team to quantify predictability of conditions that precede Australian bushfires. It's a nice approach because it only relies on data you'd collect from a weather station, so easyish to deploy. More to do, but promising signs!

I'll be at AGU next week if anyone wants to catch up about ML eruption forecasting. Talk on Wed (V31B-06). I will discuss our new work showing how models trained on several volcanoes can forecast eruptions at other volcanoes they haven't seen before.

This year, I recorded individual attendance at all my lectures to prove there was a positive effect on final grade outcome. As it turned out, attendance had no correlation with test performance.
