“CEOs in the NFP sector see the potential of technology and AI. They want their organisations to do better by drawing on new technology. But if the only way they can do that is by reducing services to the community they serve, how does that work?” https://t.co/Bf7SYKP4GO

When we allow our human services to be commodified, we invariably risk what is most important to our communities. Our sector should be loud and proud that we are driven by values and purpose, not profit. https://t.co/IyUpD63MfX

Disaster season is here - in our changing climate this has become one of the most critical, unrecognised and unfunded roles charities and not-for-profits now play in Australia.

Betting companies are keeping the proceeds of crime and victims are furious. The Mazzas’ story features on our 4 Corners program tomorrow night.

Nick and Aimee Mazza's hard-earned cash was gambled away by a man they thought was investing it. Bookmakers encouraged him to keep betting.

My take on the critical role of charities in challenging corporate power. "If a business ran the government, a corporatocracy would likely emerge, prioritising profit over social good." https://t.co/IWrRXLKbgW

The new technology we are grappling with today will be superseded by even bigger changes we will need to deal with, as it has in the past. Charities and community groups, have a critical role to play in shaping what a changed world looks like. https://t.co/NVyCHAmHIS

Doing good work is not enough, persevering is not enough, continuing to make the arguments and promote the value of our contribution to our communities is not enough. Even winning short-term reprieves is not enough. We need to be better advocates. https://t.co/SM1351Q3f1

We need a new approach to evaluation in the not-for-profit sector - if we want good measurement of impact maybe we should start with a 'we'll show you our data if you show us yours' approach? https://t.co/iPHZADPVFD

If we want better outcomes, we need better feedback loops. Our charity sector roundtable explored evaluation, smarter funding and ethical AI. A summary from @NFPdirectors Nick Place: https://t.co/36Bb3io3mY

The ATO has tried for 2 years+ to make the NFP self-assessment policy work but 80% of targeted NFPs have not lodged returns. We can argue about why, but what we cannot argue about is that the measure has failed to achieve the desired policy outcome. https://t.co/Mv0UfFXUFP

Maybe the government sees the potential gains from a more productive charities and not-for-profit sector? The winds of change might be picking up. Time to build some windmills. https://t.co/ESGrUcilCp

With the productivity agenda dominant in national policy, it's important to focus on effectiveness and value in the charities and not-for-profit sector. The fact is we often don't measure what matters, and neither do our funders, including governments. https://t.co/zDp5limlhn

In Australia, a one tenth of 1 per cent (0.01) levy would generate over $120 million a year from the $12 billion+ currently held in charitable foundations. Is this the funding needed for the Centre for Excellence recommended by the PC 15 years ago? https://t.co/lbgA7KMCbQ

Productivity is the priority issue for governments, but the productivity agenda could steamroll charities, NFPs and the public sector. NFPs have to be part of shaping the national productivity agenda. The alternative is we allow it to shape us. https://t.co/uo2CMskxlL

At the heart of our democracy, especially on election day, are thousands of charities and not-for-profits mostly staffed by a massive army of volunteers making possible a genuine demonstration of true democracy and community. https://t.co/r5zsZaygis

Lack of policy work, not walking their values talk, and not representative of their communities - key takeaways charities and NFPs can learn from Coalition failure. https://t.co/6V0CTODbTn

CCA's new survey with Piazza Research involving over 4,600 respondents - mostly from marginal seats - has again conclusively shown the importance of charities to Australian voters - so why don't we have more political power? https://t.co/AcK8Nyh6j3

Mukesh is one of the good guys - always trying to improve health while doing no harm - maybe that explains his grace under pressure ... well done Mukesh.
One of the genuine good guys. Taught me so much about the role and value of primary care. Thank you for everything @DrMukeshH! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We could just call COP a series of business lunches so the tax payer under the Coalition could fund it anyway ….

Worth noting providing better care (higher staff ratios) in health and education (non market employment) is seen as a loss of productivity - maybe we are measuring the wrong things?
Useful chart from @FinancialReview on where the jobs are under Labor. Low unemployment is great, but private sector growth is… well, judge for yourself.
