I sometimes go to @kaffeinelondon when I want a treat. It's served at a perfect, pleasant, reasonable temperature. What is their secret?.

This American study 6 years ago concluded that nearly all coffee in the USA is served way hotter than people want it to be.

There's a school of thought that says it's served at such a temperature because it's then cooled enough when you reach your destination. That's nonsense though. You want your coffee on the train and anyway, it's still scalding hot when you get there.

I don't understand why it has to be this way. Presumably that's the temperature baristas want/need to make the coffee at. But then why do some (a few) places manage to serve takeaway coffee at a pleasant, drinkable temperature?. I am seriously asking, and mildly vexed.

I ordered a coffee at a railway station at 10.00am. 50 minutes later it is finally cool enough to drink. This experience repeats constantly. Why do I not learn?.
