Forgive me but I couldn’t resist seeing how Tyrrell Hatton reacted to his 8 at 13 yesterday. This was after shot 6. Have the anger management classes paid off?
In the debate on whether to back someone if they've done well at the Masters, there's a player at the Heritage whose first 5 wins came the week after a major, including 2 here!
T12 at Augusta. His finishes in those majors before he won a week later: 13-28-17-17-14
Cink or swim?
Justin Rose...
Current form: 6th, 10th last two starts
Course form: 4th last time he played it
Form in big events this year: top 10 in two majors
Ryder Cup pedigree: excellent
I'm boring myself now but I think the team is weaker without him.
Little 80s snooker-mad me is proud of old me today as this simple blue gave me my first ever century break on a full-size table. At last!! Got a nice handshake from
@daveg147
. Practising a lot makes you better at things. Who knew? Break ended at 109.

Righty, brilliant Twitter friends, I’ve collated all our fave documentaries. Watch Tiger King and then turn your attention to this lot. Hopefully some absorbing viewing during lockdown...
Blimey. Thanks for all the messages.
A couple of people have asked if I have a favourite charity while one bloke offered me half his winnings (don’t be daft!).
Stewart Cink’s wife, Lisa, had breast cancer so a donation to that would be a nice thing to do. Cheers.

Improved best snooker break to 92 this morning. Missed easyish black trying to knock a troublesome final red off the side cushion. Spread balls nicely and was playing solo but I’ll take it!
BOOM! 70/1 WINNER. Cheers Billy Horschel.
It requires a load of luck to pick the Match Play winner but, hey, I'll take it!
Also, Harman full each-way return at 70s made it a very profitable week for the three tips in my
@Betfair
column.
Rory McIlroy: "Legacy, reputation, at the end of the day that's all you have. You strip everything away, and you're left with how you made people feel and what people thought of you. That is important to me." Yep.
Collin Morikawa: "Obviously being in Vegas feels nice, it's nice to sleep in my own bed and to be at Summit, a place I practice at every day. This is a course I come during my off weeks, I'm in a cart, I go and play five holes, 18 holes, 36, whatever it may be."
Here we go then... this year's Open Championship 10-year trends piece for
@Betfair
. Hopefully can give you a few steers for next week. Is Rory ranked No.1?
This is great. Tipped Mark Hubbard at 100/1 to be first-round leader at Muirfield Village. He's -5 and two clear. A minor point that the tip was for last week.

For maximum suspense, read slowly through it all and the selection is revealed at the bottom. Enjoy!
I really like the fact that Justin Thomas took the time to play the Open de France and ended the week as top USA scorer. If you're the next US captain, you'd surely want more following suit next time.
Yes, Collin Morikawa!
A major in San Francisco with more R4 twists and turns than Steve McQueen’s car chase in Bullitt.
Great week for
@Betfair
tips
28/1 Collin Morikawa WIN
125/1 Scottie Scheffler T4
45/1 Daniel Berger T13
Also Morikawa 4.8 for Top 10 & DJ 6.8 Top 5 landed

As always, if it comes up trumps I take full credit; if it bombs, I shrug and blame the numbers. Retweets appreciated.
If you're wondering why Phil Mickelson has started chewing gum at the age of 48......
"“The chewing aspect stimulates the frontal cortex," he said recently. Honestly.
Here we go then... 10-year trends preview for

of the 2021 Open Championship.
As usual, best digested by starting from the top and reading slowly down before the big reveal. Who will it be?
Forget the current unsettling shifting sands in golf and take comfort in the easy familiarity of a 10-year trends piece. Here's my analysis for this year's US Open in LA. Who comes out on top? Retweets and comments welcomed!
I’ve been looking at Twitter all day.
I follow loads of golf people.
I have absolutely no idea what any of the scores are in the LIV event. Not a Scooby doo who is leading.
Like most of you, I’ve spent a large part of lockdown trying to get a maximum break on my 6x3 snooker table while wearing a Steve Davis wig. So what happened next? ...
Got to love Rory.
Q: Is it frustrating when you're asked about certain conditions, you're asked about a course (Bay Hill last week) and explaining gets misconstrued publicly as maybe complaining?
Rory: It wasn't misconstrued, I was definitely complaining!
If I lectured in media studies, I'd use the van Dijk story to explain Twitter.
Outrage. Hysterical reactions become narrative. Media fuels it. Here come the smart people with sarcastic takes. Stance based on who you support. Everyone caught up in it. Round and round we go. Repeat
Here we go then - my trends preview for the US PGA Championship at Southern Hills. Look out for the late plot twist at the end! Retweets appreciated 🙏

Not really like an Open test though is it.
1st Mickelson - Open winner
2nd Oosthuizen - Open winner
T3rd Lowry - Open winner
T3rd Harrington - Open winner
Thanks very much for the Glover messages everyone. Always kind of you to take the trouble.
Didn't see a shot due to England-Italy. Don't feel like being on Twitter today due to the idiots. Be nice to live in a country where the idiots don't get stirred up by those in power.

So, before you make any decision check his predictions for Alfred Dunhill Championship, here!
Interesting from Harrington: "The ball is running so far. Every tee shot is running 60, 80 yards. You can't carry trouble and stay short of the next trouble. If you're getting too much shape, it's going to run into trouble. Being as fast as it is, it makes it much tougher."
My Masters Trends piece for

Exciting news: the 2022 version features a new points scoring system! Who will be top? Who will make it into the top 10? Find out Here! Live! Tomorrow! It's The Talk Of The Town! (No it isn't).
Money not Matt Fitzpatrick's god. "I came away from the US PGA and literally couldn't care less about how much I made. I was just gutted that I didn't win. I had a chance and I didn't take it, and that kind of said a lot to myself that that's all I'm bothered about out here."
Rory McIlroy on the LIV event in London. "I certainly don't think the field is anything to jump up and down about. Look at the field this week. Look at the field next week in Canada. They are proper golf tournaments." Oof.
Just finished the research for my Masters 10-year trends piece. The supercomputer has just spat out.... ???? Sid James seems happy. All will be revealed on Wednesday.
@Betfair
Back-to-back 63s and a five-shot lead at halfway. Ridiculous really. Some sort of redemption maybe after I looked a proper mug when trends pick Sungjae Im shot 127 over par at Augusta. Hopefully Cink keeps it going.

Quick reminder that my Masters trends piece for

will be launched at 3.30pm today. Guess away at who comes out top although, despite being very tempted to, I won't reply until it goes live! The pic below isn't a hidden clue by the way.
Lift off! Lengthy wait but 85/1 first-round leader pick Scott Stallings finishes in a three-way tie for top spot after day one of the Rocket Mortgage.

Thoughts after reading Rory's quotes. This might play like Hoylake in 2006. Firm, fast. Tiger laid back off tee and relied on his brilliant iron play. Who is most like the Tiger of 06? Morikawa. Hmmm. Top 5 in SG: Approach this season? Zalatoris, Henley, Hideki, Morikawa, Smith.
Another snooker milestone today: a first ever total clearance and a new best break of 131 (up from 109).
This was after 2 hours of setting the balls up favourably and numerous rubbish attempts but I’ll take it. Am an odd player. Miss sitters but sometimes it clicks.
A key update to my 10-year trends preview for

Thanks for Match Play messages folks. Some great tipping going on this year so glad to join the party with 70/1 Horschel.
With Harman also placed, am now +302 for the season with
@Betfair
column.
Had first Masters dream last night. Nick Faldo was driving me to Lidl on a golf buggy and I was picking his brains on who might win. He said Yuta Ikeda because his stats were sensational. Ikeda not even in the field. Faldo knows nothing.
Plenty of light and shade in golf right now.
To the left, the Fitzpatricks. Wonderful, charming, unassuming people and their boy a US Open champ.
To the right, the ugly, vulgar, greed of LIV.
Please don’t let this tweet date badly!
Scheffler on how he'll relax: "Probably just watch The Office, get some dinner. It's by far my favourite show. I love it. I think we are like two episodes into Season 4. I'm just looking forward to sitting back and giggling a little bit and eating some good food."
Had fifth century today (all in 2022). Used set-up along these lines. Got to 101 but then miscued pink trying to get up for yellow. 134 on but I still get too giddy (clenched fist) at three figures so focus goes.

I kind of hate what happened to golf in 2022 and, to be honest, I've always been a bit conflicted (captain's car parking spaces etc) by the sport. But trying to solve the puzzle of who might win each week and presenting a case as to why is as stimulating as ever.

Michael showed it was a total fluke by then going on to finish T5 at the Open Championship and T6 at the PGA in the next two majors (that would be more English sarcasm FYI) ;)
Don't know what to say there. Wrote preview on Monday evening, tipping List at 80s. Didn't send it in and then Tuesday morning he'd been cut to 66s so re-write and changed to Gooch. Completely forgot so was cheering List on tonight until realised I hadn't tipped him at all. Doh!
Happy days when we all cleaned up and lots of nice folk gave a chunk of the winning to charities. I probably should have quit golf tipping on that high but the search for winners goes on. This year's preview out tomorrow morning.
