I know this is not a US-based case, and I also don't really know anything about the law, but dang. This just seems really backwards to me. What do you mean they can patent mechanics for gliding with a made-up monster?? Surely Pokémon wasn't the first to let you glide like that.

This is a terrible precedent that seems like it violates anti-competition. Doesn't this ruling imply that no game can have monster companions that actually do stuff? Leaving the fate of these mechanics solely to Nintendo is a problem for so many reasons.
