I am tired of conversations about increasing the reproducibility of reflexive qualitative research. Reproducibility & reflexivity are components of different epistemological approaches. Reflexivity requires a genuine appreciation of researcher positionality, subjectivity, & bias.

The behavioral neuroscience PhD program at Binghamton Univ has voted to no longer require GRE scores as part of our application. It will take time for this to be reflected in the admissions system, but all applicants should know that GRE scores are no longer required.

Happy to hear there has been a deprive in the case.Would certainly help in the future to lay out the cultural context in terms of the exposure of other forms violence posed to girls of mothers subjected to FGM. FGM in this case was not the ONLY risk posed. https://t.co/az1xGQ19q1

After one of those challenging weeks of dissertation research, reading such positive feedback on the #SocialIdentityMap (methodological tool that Nida Mustafa and I developed) is a breath of fresh air. I love that it is now being used as a teaching tool as well!

A thoughtful piece, brought up in Qual Methods class yesterday, on how researchers can begin to understand their own social identity and positionality. What a great flexible tool! The authors filled it out themselves. #SocialIdentityMap https://t.co/DiajkWr5XQ

“...the vagueness associated with terms such as ‘vulnerable’ conceals the structural nature of public health problems...this vagueness can serve the political function of obscuring power relationships and limiting discussion of transformational change.” 👏🏼Thx @tsvia_soura et al

Dr. Lisa Bowleg - "Intersectionality must center power, privilege, and social processes that shape health inequity (e.g., stigma). You must talk about sameness and difference in relation to power. If you don't do this, it's not intersectionality #BisexualHealthResearchWorkshop.

This! Menopause shouldn't be scary or taboo. Maybe if we embraced menopause and discussed it freely, it wouldn't be associated with so many negative effects on women's physical and mental health. What if We Didn’t Dread Menopause?

Without hope there is no possibility for resistance, dissent, and struggle. Agency is the condition of struggle, and hope is the condition of agency. Hope expands the space of the possible and becomes a way of recognizing and naming the incomplete nature of the present.
